B Com Programme
College runs program for Bachelor of Commerce since its very inception in 1972.
Intake Capacity:
480 students (4 divisions, 120 per division – University Guidelines)
Objectives

● To provide knowledge in different areas of Commerce.


● To develop the overall personality & communication skills of the students.
● To provide students with practical exposure.
● To create for the students of the University of Mumbai, an additional avenue of self-employment & also to benefit the industry by
providing them with suitably trained persons in the field of commerce.
● To give adequate exposure to the operational environment in the field of commerce.
● To inculcate training & a practical approach by using modern technology amongst the students in the field of commerce.

● To help/enable the learners gain knowledge in the fundamentals of commerce and a deep understanding of all the courses
undertaken.

● To help/enable the learners to equip themselves to join the industry or setup own entities, persue further professional and other

practical aspects of the knowledge by offering specialization in the area.

7 Conference Hall Conference hall, with a facility for round table discussion, is located on the sixth

8 UGC Resource UGC Resource Centre is situated inside the College Library. It has five computers
Centre with high-speed internet and a scanner.

9 Research Center & Research Center with an adjoining well-equipped virtual classroom with a seating
VC Room capacity of 40 has been set-up on the 4th floor. It has a projector, VC set up and
centralised public announcement system

● Qualified & Experienced Faculty - All our permanent faculties are NET/SET Qualified and 71.4% are PhD
holders
● Good Academic Record - Average passing percentage at TY level is more than 70% which is more than that of
the University.
● Enriching Pedagogy - Our teachers employ number of innovative teaching-learning methodologies well
supported by ICT, to make the process more enriching, fun-filled experienced
● Central Location of the College - The College beingsituated in the heart of the city, at a walkable distance
from two stations, also serves as an additional incentive to the students.
● Ample opportunities for personal grooming, social engagement and community service - through its
various committees, associations and other departmental extracurricular activities students get opportunity
to for all rebound development and to pursue their interests beyond the classroom curriculum.
● Research and Entrepreneural Culture - Students are provided with the guidance and motivation for
inculcation of right attitude and skills for research through surveys and research paper writing &
presentations, participation in various competitions such as AVISHKAR…. .
The College has its own Entrepreneurship Development Cell/Incubation Center - SRIIJEN. We also hold and

this leads to greater learning disparity among the students.
● Limited options to students in terms of optional subjects/ scope for combinations.
● Space Constraints for expansion/activities
● Limited capacity to generate financial resources for providing better academic and physical facilities to
students due to university approved fees structures
OPPORTUNITIES

● Possibility of greater tie-ups with industry and institutions of excellence at national and international level for
offering employment oriented programmes
● Greater integration with industry and business houses for placements due to location in the commercial
capital of India.
● More focus on research and innovations, especially applied research in the fields of Commerce and
Management.
● With active social involvement through cells such as NSS & DLLE and other activities by the department,
students get additional exposure and opportunity for social alignment and grooming, development of a
sense of social responsibility.
● Better opportunity for inculcation and display of Research and Entrepreneural skills.
