PRESENTATION OF

MODEL THESIS
Ruffa May Monis
APPROVED TOPIC

SHS WORK IMMERSION PORTAL:

Web-system for Monitoring Immersion
Status
APPROVED TOPIC

Rationale
As a part Senior High School Curriculum, the student needs to exposed on the a job inline to
their strands. Some of the student experience job mismatched at the middle of rendering their work
immersion hours. Aside, the most schools are manual gathering student work immersion company
details thru paper and pen and stored using google sheet. The current process is prone to data error and
tend to overlook some students.
This system will help the teacher and coordinator to be updated on all of the work immersion
status, company details, and job description once employed. The teacher and coordinator can check if
the job description is match to its strand. if happen that the student applied and be employed on
unrecorded company, the students can manual register the company name and its contact information
with the approval and verification done by the coordinator or teacher then the student will recorded as
employed.
At the same time, it will served as the job portal for SHS Work Immersion, using company
details of previously enrolled student, the currently enrolled student can apply to opening job post in
the system.

MODEL THESIS 1 Chapter 1

Introduction
“The proposed system is called Internship Monitoring and Supervising System (iMAPS)”

“students will perform online registration process in order to get the application letter
from the coordinator. Since the process can be done anytime and anywhere, students can save
their time. They can focus on their lessons instead of spending huge amount of time with
internship application matters. This helps to smoothen their education process. Furthermore,
from the online database, coordinator can trace the status of application for each student. This
will make the monitoring process easier.”
MODEL THESIS 1 Chapter 1

Statement of the Problem

1. How does the institution process internship during:
a. Pre-placement
b. In-placement
c. Post-placement
2. What software development methodology should be utilized?
3. What are the modules should be included in the developing the internship monitoring
system?
4. Does the functionalities meets user expectation?
MODEL THESIS 1 Chapter 1

Significant of the Study

 Professor
 Students
 Coordinator
 Partner Industry

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The iMAPS is a web-based monitoring system that will computerized the current manual
process of Universiti Teknologi MARA in internship placement of Electrical Engineering students.
The users of the proposed study are coordinators, students, visiting lecturer and industrial supervisor.
The proposed study will be using System Development Life Cycle through waterfall model. XAMP
application is used to setup local-host server and HeidiSQL is used for database applications.
Meanwhile, the programming tools used are Adobe Dreamweaver and PHP language.
