Proposal International Tourism Seminar 2022

BACKGROUND
A year has passed and it seems that global tourism is still difficult to “recover” from this
situation. The World Tourism Organization under the United Nations (UNWTO) noted
that international tourist arrivals in 2020 fell by around 74 percent from the previous
year which reached 1.5 billion. As a result, the fastest growing economic sector in the
world has had to retreat further due to the impact of Covid-19. The impact of this
pandemic situation is dire for many developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region,
where tourism is a major source of income. According to the UNWTO, sustainable
tourism is defined as “Tourism that truly takes into account the economic, social and
environmental impacts not only for the present, but also for the future in order to meet
the needs of visitors, industry, the environment and local communities. Based on these
problems , this seminar was held To Rethink, the next stop regarding the preparation of
sustainable tourism after the pandemic, through internationsl tourism seminar.

PURPOSES
In order to Celebrate World Tourism Day and the 31st
Anniversary of the Tourism Polytecjnic Of Makassar
To share a vision for a more sustainable, inclusive and
resilient tourism sector future.
For Discussions on Rethinking Tourism for development,
including in Education and employment as well as
discussions on the impact of tourism and the opportunities
for sustainable development.
As an effort to form and prepare tourism human resources.
As a form of practice for the 7th semester Student
Conference Management course, Convention and Event
Business Management study program.
EV ENT CONCEPT
The seminar will be held in Hybrid with a total of 4 speakers using Zoom
Webinar which has a capacity of up to 500 people and will be held offline at
the Auditorium Tourism Polytechnic Of Makassar
This seminar activity is in conjunction with the implementation of the 31st
Anniversary of Tourism Polytechnic Of Makassar
The seminar will be held in two sessions with a predetermined number of sub-
themes or materials.
The activity will be held for one day, opening remarks by Permanent Secretary
Oof the Ministry of Tourismand Creative Indonesia
