Light Sensor Using Arduino - Paper Presentation

This document describes a light sensor project using an Arduino board. It lists the components needed, including an Arduino UNO, LED, LDR light dependent resistor, breadboard, resistors and battery. It provides a schematic and steps to connect the LDR to read light levels and control an LED. When it's dark the LDR resistance is high, when light the resistance is low. The system works by sensing light intensity with the LDR. It can automate street lights and save energy while increasing safety.

SCHEMATIC REPRESENTATION
CONSTRUCTION
Connections for LDR
 Connect the 3.3V of Arduino to the positive rail and ground

to the negative rail of breadboard.

 Place the LDR on the breadboard and attach the 10k ohm
resistor to one of the legs of LDR.

 Connect the A0 pin of Arduino to the same column of resistor

and LDR.

 Connect the other end of resistor to the negative rail of

breadboard.

 Connect the other end of LDR to the positive rail of breadboard

LDR CONNECTION
Connections for LED

 Place LED on breadboard and connect positive

end of LED to the 220ohm resistor.

 Connect the other end of resistor to the pin 13 of

Arduino.

 Connect the negative end of LED to the negative

rail of breadboard.

WORKING
 How its Work?

 This system works by sensing the intensity of

light in its environment.

 The sensor that can be used to detect light is

an LDR.

 LDR whose resistance decreases as the

amount of light falling on it increases.
 When it is dark, the resistance of a
photoresistor may be as high as a few MΩ.
 When it is light, however, the resistance of a
photoresistor may be as low .

FLOW CHART
APPLICATIONS
 The wastage of unused electricity can be
reduced, lifetime of the streetlights gets
enhanced.

 Because the lights do not stay ON during the

whole night.

 Helps to increase safety measurements.

CONLUSION
 By using this process we can save energy.

 It can be used for automating street light

systems.

 This work is useful in the area of security

usage, Industries and in automation.
