SETTIP UP VIRTUAL MACHINE

SETTING UP VIRTUAL MACHINE

Virtual Machine (VM) can be used to boot Linux. It is easy to set up, ideal
for learning and testing. For this, we will use VMware Workstation. First, we
will set up the workstation player.
SETTING UP VIRTUAL MACHINE

1. When the installation wizard opens, select the option to create new
virtual machines

2. Choose the default option, that is the Installer disc image file (ISO). It
is best to do it this way to prevent anything wrong from happening
during the installation. If you cannot find the ISO file, look for it using
the browse option
SETTING UP VIRTUAL MACHINE

3. Select ‘guest OS’ and move to the next step

4. Select Linux as the type of guest operating system

5. Select the version of the OS from the list

6. Click on the next option to move to the next step, and key in the
name of the virtual machine

7. Confirm the location where the OS files need to be saved and let the
installation wizard complete the process
SETTING UP VIRTUAL MACHINE

After setting up the workstation player, virtual machine needs to be built.

1. Choose the maximum disk size from the option to select the specific
disk capacity. You can stick to the default if you want to

2. You can also choose to split the virtual disk into multiple segments. It
is recommended to do this since you can move the virtual machine
easily onto your new system

3. Once you are happy with the details, you should confirm them and
move onto the next step

4. Click finish to install your virtual machine.

LINUX ON VMWARE

1. First, customize the VM according to the distro’s requirements.

Reboot after that.

2. Install the necessary VMware tools, which will be offered by the

installation wizard

3. Launch the VM and boot the ISO to proceed with the installation

4. Run the distro by clicking play button on the system
