This document discusses a study on ecotourism as a tool for sustainable community development among forest adjacent communities in Kakamega Forest, Kenya. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of ecotourism in promoting sustainable development. It will examine forms of ecotourism in the forest, relationships between ecotourism and community values, and socio-economic impacts on surrounding communities. A conceptual framework is presented showing how ecotourism income, environmental education, cultural preservation, and partnerships can lead to sustainable development through intermediate factors. The methodology describes a descriptive research design using questionnaires to collect data from 100 people, which will then be analyzed and used to write the study report.

INTRODUCTION
Background of the study area

of 1560m,along the north-eastern edge.Faunally and florally,it's
dominated by central African lowland species.

Problem statement.
For tourism to be successful, it must promote sustainable development by establishing a durable productive base that allows local inhabitants
and ecotourism service providers to enjoy rising standards of living. Furthermore, it should fuel economic growth, equitable distribution of
resources, and in the process alleviate poverty.
Ultimately, the relevance of ecotourism is linked to promoting the well-being of both the local people and the environment; a great many
people are living adjacent to forests who continue to suffer from the absence of fundamental opportunities to lead decent and satisfying lives.
