BACnet Addressing Terms
MAC Address vs. Device ID

MAC – Media Access Control

MAC Address Device ID
The controller’s address The controller’s address
on the MS/TP link on the BACnet network
• Set using the 3 rotary • Must be unique across
switches the entire BACnet
• Valid range: 1-120 network
• Rule: unique per link • Valid range: 1-4194302
• Best practice: start at
1, be sequential and
no gaps

BCI-C BACnet Objects
• When the BCI-C is installed it interrogates the CH530
and creates all objects associated with the chiller
configuration
– Does not create an object if the option is not installed
– Does not require any programming of objects
• Object list is described in BAS-SVP05
– Integration Guide BACnet™ Communication Interface
for Chiller (BCI-C)
– Literature available in litweb chiller directory

Alarming with BCI-C

• BI23 Alarm Present

– Notification Class: HVAC-Information
• BI24 Shutdown Alarm Present
– Notification Class: HVAC-Critical
• BI25 Last Diagnostic
– Indicates the last diagnostic in the Active Text

These points are always present. To use BACnet services for

alarm notification the 3rd party must subscribe to the notification
classes of the BCI-C
