 The training is based on curriculum developed from the


competency standards
 Learning is competency-based or modular in structure
 Training delivery is individualized
and self-paced
 Training is based on work that must be performed
 Training materials are directly related to the competency
standards and the curriculum

 Assessment of learners is based in the collection of evidences


of work performance based on industry or organizational
required standards
 Training is based both on and off the job components
 The system allows Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
 The system allows for learners to enter and exit programs at
different times and levels and to receive an award for
competencies attained at any point.
 Approved training programs are nationally accredited
My Role (Trainer)
 Coordinating Learning Activities
 Motivates trainee’s to learn
 Manage learning: providing consultation rather than providing
information
 Diagnose and solves learning problem
 Evaluate trainee’s achievement
 Assist learners to obtain individualized rewards
 Assist trainee in designing a personalized plan of study
 Install confidence to the trainees by providing experiences where
learner may succeed
 Serves as a model for desirable work habits, attitudes and task
performance
 Help student who needs help (slow learner are guided accordingly)
 Accepts responsibility for the task learned or not learned
Your Role (Trainee)
 Training is Learner Centered
 Select what they want to learn and when they want to learn it within reason
 Learn at their own rate within program guidelines
 May request to be given credit on what they already know (RPL)
 May choose how they want to learn- individually , on a one-to-one basis in small groups.. Etc.
 Decides when they are ready to perform the task or demonstrate mastery
 May choose his preference for learning, learning style and other needs
 Trainee do not compete with student but rather are graded on achievement of the standards
or criteria of task
 Trainees evaluate their own progress
 Can move freely within the workshop, laboratory, training center
 Will be rated based on their performance, while written test will be used to check their
knowledge of the task
 Learn according to their interest, needs and abilities not according to teachers time-line and
convenience
