SERVICING PROCEDURES

DISMANTLING
REMOVAL OF THE
IMPELLER

Locking the rotor...


Step 1>>Fit the two shaft locking
stays to the turbine end of the main
casing.
Step 2 >>Position the shaft locking
tool onto the turbine wheel and
attach it to the two shaft locking
stays using two screws, nuts and
washers.
REMOVAL OF THE
IMPELLER

Fitting the impeller removal tooling...


Step 1 >>Place the sleeve on the
impeller nose and lock with the locking
screw.
Step 2 >>Fit the bracket for the torque
multiplier and then insert the socket.
Refer to Fig 4.49.
Step 3 >> Insert the torque amplifier
with extension into the groove on the
bracket.
Step 4 >>Insert a 3/4” drive T-bar into
the torque amplifier. Rotate in an anti-
clockwise direction.
Step 5 >> Unscrew the impeller with the
tooling until it is only hand tight.
Step 6 >> Remove the tooling fitted in
Steps 1 to 4.
Removing the seal
plate

Step 1>>Remove three equispaced


cap screws retaining the seal plate.
Step 2 >>Fit guide bars into the
now vacated holes.
Step 3 >>Remove the remaining
cap screws from the seal plate.
Step 4 >>Remove the seal plate
from the main casing by sliding on
the guide bars.
Step 5 >>Attach suitable lifting
equipment to support the seal plate
when it is withdrawn from the guide
bars.
Step 6 >>Remove the guide bars.
