Adding and Subtracting Functions

Here are the steps to solve the problems: 1. f(x) = x^2 + 2x; g(x) = x - 3 (f + g)(x) = (x^2 + 2x) + (x - 3) = x^2 + 2x - 3 2. f(x) = x^2 + 2x; g(x) = x - 3 (f - g)(x) = (x^2 + 2x) - (x - 3) = x^2 + 2x - (x - 3) = x^2 + 5x - 3 3. f(x) = x; g(x)

Friendship Dance

When we walk to the left, and we walk to the right

And we walk, and we walk, and we walk all day
With a heel and a toe, and a half turn around
With a heel and a toe, and a new friend found

I want to be your friend a little bit more (Shake Hands)

I want to be your friend a little bit more (Appear Hands)
I want to be your friend a little bit more (Elbow to Elbow)
A little bit, A little bit, (Knee to Knee)
A little bit more (Place your hand to the
shoulder of your friend)
HOW ARE YOU TODAY?

Group Activity:

“Find My Hidden Message”

Mechanics: “Find My Hidden Message”
1. The class will be divided into two groups
2. Each group will be given the same set of problem. Each members of the
group must fall in line and answer the given problem accordingly.
3. Then, each group must find the correct answer on the scattered strips of
paper in front because each answer has a corresponding letter that will
reveal the hidden message.
4. After the group will get the correct answer and formed the message, they
should read together loudly the given phrase.
Group Activity:

Basic Rules to Add/Subtract Numbers
Positive Positive Addition (Sign will be positive)

Negative Negative Addition (Sign will be negative)

Positive Negative Subtraction (Sign of greater number)

Positive Negative Addition (Sign will be positive)

Negative Positive Addition (Sign will be negative)

Adding/Subtracting similar and dissimilar fractions:

 To add/subtract similar fractions, just copy the denominator

and add/subtract the numerator.

 To add/subtract dissimilar fractions, solve for the Least

Common Denominator (LCD) of the given fractions.
