NEW TECHNOLOGIES

WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY?

The application of scientific knowledge to the practical aims of human

life or, as it is sometimes phrased, to the change and manipulation of the
human environment.

The technological environment refers to external factors in technology

that impact business operations. Changes in technology affect how a
company will do business. A business may have to dramatically change
their operating strategy as a result of changes in the technological
environment.
METAVERSE

The metaverse is a hypothetical iteration of the Internet as a single,

universal and immersive virtual world that is facilitated by the use of
virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) headsets. In colloquial use,
a metaverse is a network of 3D virtual worlds focused on social
connection.

The metaverse is an immersive virtual world where people can meet, chat
and collaborate as if they were in the same room. As one type of shared
immersive experience, the metaverse is an always-on digital environment
where visitors can shop, socialize, train for their jobs, play games, take
classes, attend meetings, have cultural experiences, and more.
VIRTUAL REALITY

Virtual reality (VR) is a simulated experience in which a person

can interact with an artificial 3-D environment using electronic
devices, sensors etc and it is similar to or completely different
from the real world. Applications of virtual reality can include
entertainment (i.e. video games) and educational purposes (i.e.
medical or military training).

Other, distinct types of VR style technology include augmented

reality and mixed reality, sometimes referred to as extended reality.
AUGMENTED REALITY

Augmented reality (AR) is an interactive experience of a real-world

environment where the objects that reside in the real world are
enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes
across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic,
somatosensory and olfactory.
AR can be defined as a system that fulfills three basic features: a
combination of real and virtual worlds, real-time interaction, and
accurate 3D registration of virtual and real objects. The overlaid
sensory information can be constructive (i.e. additive to the natural
environment), or destructive (i.e. masking of the natural
environment).
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of

human intelligence in machines that are programmed to
think like humans and mimic their actions. The term may
also be applied to any machine that exhibits traits
associated with a human mind such as learning and
problem-solving. The ideal characteristic of artificial
intelligence is its ability to rationalize and take actions that
have the best chance of achieving a specific goal.
ROBOTICS

Robotics are intelligent machines that can help and assist

humans in their day to day lives. It is used for
manufacturing, assembling, transport, surgery, weaponry
production of industrial goods.

Main three functions are:

 They sense, think and act ie; they senses
environmental stimula.
 Think in terms of present algorithm for planning.
 Define the reactions and overall behavior.
INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT)

The Internet of things describes the network of physical objects “things” that are
embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of
connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the Internet.

IoT technology is most synonymous with products pertaining to the concept of

the "smart home", including devices and appliances (such as lighting fixtures,
thermostats, home security systems and cameras, and other home appliances) that
support one or more common ecosystems, and can be controlled via devices
associated with that ecosystem, such as smartphones and smart speakers.
3-D PRINTING

3D printing or additive manufacturing is a process of making

three dimensional solid objects from a digital file. The creation
of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes. In
an additive process an object is created by laying down
successive layers of material until the object is created.
The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive
processes. In an additive process an object is created by laying
down successive layers of material until the object is created.
Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced cross-section
of the object.
WEARABLE TECHNOLOGY

Wearable technology are smart electronic devices (electronic device with micro-controllers) that are
worn close to and/or on the surface of the skin, where they detect, analyze, and transmit information
concerning e.g. body signals such as vital signs, and/or ambient data and which allow in some cases
immediate biofeedback to the wearer.
Wearable technology has a variety of applications which grows as the field itself expands. It appears
prominently in consumer electronics with the popularization of the smart watch and activity tracker.
Apart from commercial uses, wearable technology is being incorporated into navigation systems,
advanced textiles, and healthcare.
Financial Technology

Financial technology (abbreviated fintech or FinTech) is the technology

and innovation that aims to compete with traditional financial methods in
the delivery of financial services. It is an emerging industry that uses
technology to improve activities in finance.

The use of smartphones for mobile banking, investing, borrowing services,

and cryptocurrency are examples of technologies aiming to make financial
services more accessible to the general public. Financial technology
companies consist of both startups and established financial institutions
and technology companies trying to replace or enhance the usage of
financial services provided by existing financial companies.
