The document discusses body composition, types of body composition including ectomorphs, endomorphs, and mesomorphs. It defines body mass index (BMI) as a numerical value of weight in relation to height that indicates fitness and health status. It provides an example calculation of BMI and the five BMI categories ranging from underweight to extremely obese. Body composition

 is the percentage of a body's weight that is fat tissue. Body composition is

the body's amount of fat relative to fat-free mass. Individuals with optimal
body composition are typically healthier, move more easily and efficiently,
and generally feel better.
Types of Body Composition
•Ectomorphs are long and lean, with little
body fat, and little muscle. They have a
hard time gaining weight. Fashion models
and basketball players fit this category.
While most of us love to hate these
genetically-blessed individuals, some male
ectomorphs may not be thrilled with their
narrow-chested frames, and some female
ectomorphs long for more womanly curves.
•Endomorphs, on the other hand, have
lots of body fat, lots of muscle, and gain
weight easily. "Football lineman tend to
be endomorphs -- they're heavier and
rounder individuals," says Colby. "And
they don't have to necessarily be
overweight. Both Oprah Winfrey and
Marilyn Monroe are classic examples of
endomorphs."
•Mesomorphs are athletic, solid,
and strong. "They're not overweight
and not underweight," says Colby,
"and they can eat what they want
without worrying too much about it."
They both gain and lose weight
without too much effort.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
- This is a numerical value of your weight in relation to your height in accordance to your
fitness and health.
EXAMPLE
W/M2=BMI
Given: H= 5`6” W= 65kg

Solution: (Note: 1ft:12in and 1M:39.37in is constant)

1.) 5ft x 12in= 60in + 6in= 66in

2.) convert inches into meter (39.37in is constant): 66in/39.37in= 1.67m
3.) square the converted meter: (1.67m) ^2 = 2.78m
4.) divide the weight into converted meter: 65kg/2.78m= 23.38 BMI FIVE CATEGORIES

 (1.67) ^2=2.78 or 1.67*1.67= 2.78 BMI Weight Status

Below 18.5 Underweight
 65kg/2.78= 23.38 BMI 18.5 – 24.9 Normal
25.0 – 29.9 Overweight
30.0 – 34.9 Obese
35.0 – Above Extremely Obese
assessment

 Compute and identify your BMI status

Evaluation:
solve the given height and weight then identify the BMI status of it

1. H:5’7f, W:45kg
2. H:157.6cm, W:60kg
3. H:5ft, W:63kg
4. H:4’5ft, W:53kg
5. H: 6’2ft, W:65kg
1. Search the five major muscle of human body (upper extremity, core region,
and lower extremity)
2. Label the functions/motion of different muscles in the human body
