ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

WHAT IS AI
The term ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE is
composed of two words i.e. Artificial &
Intelligence.The word artificial means non-
natural i.e. anything that is man-made and
intelligence refers to the ability to
understand,think and learn.So,combining
both,The AI can be defined as a man-made
thinking power.
TYPES OF AI
1. NARROW AI
-AI is said to be narrow when the machine
can perform a specific (single) task
extremely well,even better than
humans.They are also called as WEAK
AI. For ex. , poker game where a
machine beats human where in all rules
and moves are fed into the machine.
2. GENERAL AI
-Artificial Intelligence reaches the
general state when it can perform any
intellectual task with the same accuracy
level as a human would . It means the
machines that can actually think and
perform tasks on its own just like human
beings.They are self-aware and concious
to take decisions.
3.STRONG AI
-Super/Strong AI is a level of systems in
which machines could surpass human
intelligence and can perform any task better
than human with cognitive properties.
ADVANTAGES OF AI
1.Less errors-As decisions are taken on previously
gathered information and certain
algorithms,without the interference of
humans ,therefore errors are reduced and the
chance of reaching accuracy with a greater degree
of precision is a possibility.
2.Faster decisions- Using artificial
intelligence,decisions can be taken very fast.Ex.-
we all hae played Chess game in windows.
3.Can work continously- Unlike
humans,machine does not get tired.,even if it has to
work for consecutive hours.This is a major benefit
of AI over the humans,who need rest,time to time to
be effcient.

4.Taking risks on behalf of


humans-In various situations,robots can be
used instead of humans to avoid the risks.
5.NO EMOTIONS-The complete
absence of emotions makes machines to
think logically and take right decisions where
in humans emotions are associated with
moods that can affect human efficiency.

6.DAILY APPLICATIONS-In today’s


era,AI is used in many applications
just like apple’s siri,window’s
cortana,google’s OK google.
DISADVANTAGES OF AI
1.HIGH COSTS- Creation of ai requires
huge costs as they are very complex machines.
2.UNEMPLOYMENT-The increasing number
of AI machines are leading to unemployment and job
security issues.
3.CAN’T THINK OUT OF BOX- Robots
can only do the work that they are
programmed to do.They cannot act on anything
different outside of whatever algorithm or
programming is stored in their internal circuits.

4.HIGHLY DEPENDENT ON
MACHINES- In today’s generation,most of
the people are highly dependenton
applications like Siri.
