Earthquake Detector Final PPT Slides

This document describes an earthquake detector created by a group of students. It lists the group members and explains that earthquakes are caused by the sudden release of energy from rock breaking along a fault line. It then lists and describes the components used to build the earthquake detector, including a piezo element to detect vibrations, an operational amplifier to strengthen signals, a transistor to make decisions, a timer IC to generate pulses, and other basic electronic components like resistors, capacitors, an LED, speaker and battery. It also notes some advantages and disadvantages of earthquake prediction.

WHY DO EARTHQUAKES HAPPEN?

Earthquakes are usually caused when underground rock

suddenly breaks and there is rapid motion along a fault.
This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves
that make the ground shake.
COMPONENTS USED IN EARTHQUAKE
DETECTOR
o PIEZO ELEMENT
o POT-HG (POTENTIOMETER)
o CAP- ELEC (CAPACITOR)
o RESISTORS
o LM741 (OPERATIONAL AMPLIFIER)
o BC548 (BIPOLAR TRANSISTOR625 (Mw)
o 555 TIMER IC
o RED-LED
o SPEAKER
o BATTERY
WORKING OF COMPONENTS

PIEZO
ELEMENT
It consist of negative & positive
terminal, detect vibrations and convert
them to voltages
LM741 (OPERATIONAL
AMPLIFIER)
The main intention of this LM741 OP-AMP is to strengthen
AC & DC signals.
BC548 (Bipolar transistor 625 mW)

BC548 is a general-purpose transistor that take the decision

about condition.
555 Timer IC

The 555 timer IC is an integrated circuit (chip) used in a variety of

timer, delay, pulse generation, and oscillator applications.
POT-HG
(POTENTIOMETER)
Potentiometers allow the resistance in a circuit to be
changed infinitely between two set points.

CAP-ELEC
(CAPACITOR)
A capacitor is a device that stores energy in the form of an
electrostatic field between its plates.

RESISTORS

A resistor is a passive two-terminal electrical component

that implements electrical resistance as a circuit element.
LED-
RED
Its an indicator for alert.

SPEAKE
R

A device that produces sound.

BATTER
Y
A device that supplies the power
