ART FORMS Visual arts is an expression of artistic ideas through images, structures, and tactile work. Painting, sculpture, and architecture are considered as
Visual Arts examples of it. Some visual
artworks are integrated - which means it combines several medium to create a new and unique artwork. Literary arts is an expression of ideas through writing. There Literary Arts are many types of literary artworks, and this can be categorized into: POETRY, PROSE, and DRAMA. Performing arts is an expression of an artistic idea through written lyrics, text, dramatization, and multimedia production.
Performing arts usually require the
musical theatre, dance, and drama, a combination of different art forms, such as literary art for the material and visual arts for Performing Arts stage design. It! Integrative Arts An integration of various art forms has become more and more evident in contemporary arts. With people of different cultures having contact with each other, it is inevitable that artists lift styles and techniques from different practices. Lesson 2: Elements of Art “The foundation of every artwork.” Let’s learn about it! The elements of art are the building blocks used by artists to create a work of art. These creative building blocks are essential and having a grasp on how they work is important both for the artist and for lovers of art. Let’s think about it!!! The Artist and the Artwork There would be no artwork or any forms of art without the seven elements of art. SPACE It is the area between and around objects. Is it a RABBIT or DUCK? LINE It is a series of points and mark with greater length than width. It is formed by SHAPE connecting both ends of a line. Shapes are two dimensional figures with height and width. Forms are three FORM dimensional; it has the same dimensions as a shape except with added volume. Unlike shapes, it has more depth and does not feel flat. COLOR Color is light reflected off of objects. Color has three main characteristics: hue, value , and intensity. VALUE Value is considered a property of a color which pertains to its lightness or darkness. E It is the surface quality that can be seen and felt. Lesson 2: Principles of Art “The arrangement of visual elements.” Let’s learn about it! They are used to organize the basic elements of art and often referred to as principles of organization or design principles.
Another important element in creating art is COMPOSITION,
the placement of visual elements in an artwork, and art principles help figure out the arrangement of those visual elements. CE It is the distribution of the visual weight of objects, colors, texture, and space. Types of Balance It is the part of the design that catches the viewer’s SIS attention. Usually the artist will make one area stand out by contrasting it with other areas. The area could be different in size, color, texture, shape, etc. ENT It is the path the viewer’s eye takes through the work of art, often to focal areas Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh N It is the repetition of an object or symbol all over the work of art to create a certain pattern. It works with pattern to ION make the work of art seem active. The repetition of elements of design creates unity within the work of art. PROPORTION It refers to the relationship of the elements, specifically its relative size (scale) of parts of a whole (proportion). It is created when one or M more elements of design are used repeatedly to create a feeling of organized movement. Rhythm creates a mood like music or dancing. To keep rhythm exciting and active, variety is essential. It is the use of several elements of design to hold the Y viewer’s attention and to guide the viewer’s eye through and around the work of art.
This means adding multiple,
different elements to break the monotony of an artwork and make it more interesting (diversity).
