system based on mobile terminal

Presented by:
M.SAIPRASANNA

Key points :
Existing System
Proposed System
Types of barcode
Architecture
Barcode technologies
Existing System :
 The automatic identification system technology based on RFID tags .
 These results are goods , but automatic identification is a difficult problem when there is a large
amount of information .
 At the same time , there is no in-depth study on the identification system .
Proposed System :
 In view of the problems existing in the identification of various anti-counterfeiting , here
proposes a design of barcode automatic identification system based on mobile terminal .
 Based on the wide application of network payment and information query and the wide
popularization of mobile terminals at this stage , the identification of products can be made free
and convenient .
 At the same time , the development of automatic identification system is to improve the
identification speed and shortening the identification time , and realizing the automatic
identification of barcode .
Types of Barcode :
There are two types of barcodes :
1.UPC (Universal product code)
2.EAN (European Article Number)
Here , in UPC there are some versions :
 UPC version A
 UPC version B
 Other versions :-
 UPC version C
 UPC version D
Continued …
In EAN there are some versions :
 EAN - 8 version
 EAN -13 version
 UPC A , UPC E and EAN-8 , EAN-13 are mostly wide used.

UPC Barcode :
 The Universal product code or the 1-Dimensionsal
Barcode is the format for product barcodes in the
U.S. and Canada . They are used in retail stores .

UPC version A :
 It is the basic version of UPC and is usually seen on
grocery store items.
 Omnidirectional
 Capacity : GTIN (Global Trade Item Number ) – 12
numbers consist of 11 data digits and one modulo 10
checksum .

UPC version E :
 Used on small packages .
 Omnidirectional .
Continued …

EAN-8 version :
 EAN-8 is an 8 digit code . EAN -8 has a left hand
guard pattern , two set of four parity digits separated
by a centre guard pattern and a right hand guard
pattern .

EAN-13 version :
 EAN-13 is a 13 digit code . EAN-13 has 10 numeric
characters . First digit is always placed outside the
symbol , additionally right quiet indicator (>) is used
to indicate quiet zone , that are necessary for barcode
scanner to work properly .

Continued…
 The barcode automatic identification system based on mobile terminal is developed on Android
platform .
 Which can be used by any mobile client with Android operating system installed .
 The software will process the pictures , extract the barcode data , upload these data to the server
side of the system .
 Compare with data in the system , whether it is genuine or fake , it will display , the genuine will
display the production date , place of origin and other information of the product .
 The system development interface is simple , easy to operate and adapt to multi-stage population .
Barcode printing technologies :
 There are several printing technologies are available for barcode printing .
 Follows are the some of the most common printing technologies used within the Automatic
identification and data capture(AIDC) .
 1 . Dot matrix printing
 2 . Inkjet printing
 3 . Laser printing
 4 . Thermal printing
 5 . Direct thermal printing
 6 . Thermal transfer printing
