C. ELICIT: (THE AIR)
C. ELICIT: THE DIELECTRIC MATERIALS
IS SOLID CALLED MICA
D. ENGAGE:
LET US ALL EXAMINE THE FOLLOWING PICTURES OF
THE DIFFERENT DIELECTRIC MATERIALS WE SAW
EARLIER.
THE DIELECTRIC MATERIALS IS GAS (THE
AIR) THE DIELECTRIC MATERIALS IS
SOLID (MICA)
E. EXPLORE:

• Designated Learning area for the groups

• Group 1 – Area 1
• Group 2 – Area 2
• Group 3 – Area 3
E. EXPLORE: GROUP 2
GROUP 1
E. EXPLORE:

GROUP 3
F. EXPLAIN:

• Let us examine and hear your observation in the activity.

• Each group will have a designated speaker to present your observation in the learning areas.
• Each group will only present the first learning area that they visited.
GROUP 1- PRESENTATION

What have you observed to the charge and
capacitance, when dielectric materials like air is
being inserted between the capacitor?
GROUP 2 - PRESENTATION
GROUP 3 - PRESENTATION

• What will happen if dielectric • What will you do now as the

materials would not be available millennial generation to the plastic
anymore in the market? and any other materials that you
used in relation to dielectric
materials?
G. ELABORATION:
DISCUSSION:
CAPACITANCE AND DIELECTRICS
• Capacitance
Is the ratio of the change in electric charge of a system, to the corresponding change
in its electric potential? There are two closely related notions of capacitance: self-
capacitance and mutual capacitance. Any object that can be electrically charged
exhibits self-capacitance.
SI unit: farad
Derivations from other quantities: C = charge / voltage
Formula: C=Q/V. Where C,= Capacitance, V= Voltage, and Q= Charge
DIELECTRIC

IS AN ELECTRICAL INSULATOR THAT CAN BE POLARIZED BY AN APPLIED

ELECTRIC FIELD.
CHARGE
• Is defined as the capacitance times
its potential deference
Formula: Q=CV
ELECTRIC CHARGE

Is the physical property of

matter that causes it to
experience a force when placed
in an electromagnetic field.
There are two types of electric
charge: positive and negative.
Like charges repel each other
and unlike charges attract each
other.
ELECTRIC FIELD

An electric field surrounds an

electric charge, and exerts force
on other charges in the field,
attracting or repelling them.
Electric field is sometimes
abbreviated as E-field.
VOLTAGE

is the pressure from

an electrical circuit's power
source that pushes charged
electrons (current) through a
conducting loop, enabling them to
do work such as illuminating a
light. In brief, voltage = pressure,
and it is measured in volts (V).
NOW WE WILL KNOW THE EFFECTS OF
DIELECTRIC MATERIALS IN TO THE
CAPACITANCE, CHARGES, AND ELECTRIC
FIELD. I HAVE HERE A TABLE.
CAPACITANCE CHARGES ELECTRIC FIELD
the presence of the dielectric allows the capacitor to store more practically no current flows in them
reduces the effect of electric field. charge for a given potential because, unlike metals, they have no
difference. loosely bound,

the dielectric is polarized by the field.

I have here a problem involving capacitors and dielectrics in
contexts such as, but not limited to, charges plates,
electroscopes, batteries, camera, flash lamps, Geiger converter,
and coaxial cable.
Determine the amount of charge stored on either plate of a
capacitor (4x10-6) when connected across a 12 volt battery.
C = Q/V
4x10-6 = Q/12
Q = 48x10-6C
INSTRUCTIONS:
GROUP 1 – ELABORATE THE 3 TYPES OF DIELECTRIC MATERIALS.

GROUP 2 – DESCRIBE THE EFFECTS OF INSERTING DIELECTRIC MATERIALS IN TO THE

CAPACITANCE, CHARGES, AND ELECTRIC FIELD.

GROUP 3 – SOLVE THE PROBLEM 1. USING THE FORMULA C = Q/V. GIVEN: IF THE TWO
CAPACITORS IS 3.3 WERE CONNECTED TO A VOLT BATTERY DETERMINE THE VOLTAGE
ACROSS THE CAPACITORS FOR EACH CONNECTION TYPES?

FOR THE SERIES CONNECTION:

THE CHARGE FOR EACH CAPACITOR IS THE SAME AS THE CHARGE ON THE EFFECTIVE
CAPACITANCE.
C = Q/V
GROUP 1 – ANSWER:

SOLID, LIQUID, AND GAS
