 Употребляется для выражения действий, произошедших в прошлом,
часто с указанием времени действия: yesterday,
last..,
ago,
in 2006

+ V2(-ed)
- Did not + V
? Did + subject + V

+ He walked/went home yesterday.


- He didn’t form company in 1975.
? Did he form company last year?
Yes, he did. No, he didn't.
Past Continuous Tense
Употребляется:
для описания действия, которое происходило в определённое время в
прошлом: yesterday at 1 o'clock
для описания действия, которое происходило в прошлом и было
прервано другим действием: when
для описания двух или более одновременных действий,
происходивших в развитии в прошлом: while

+ be (was/were) + V-ing
- be (was/were) not + V-ing
? be (was/were) + subject + V-ing

+ I was singing at 5 pm yesterday.


-He wasn’t reading a book at 5 pm last night.
? Was she playing the piano at 5 pm yesterday?
Yes, she was. No, she wasn’t.
Past Perfect Tense
Употребляется, когда речь идёт о:
 действии, которое произошло перед другим действием в
прошлом: I had had dinner before he came back home.
 действии, которое завершилось в прошлом при описании его
результата: We had done that work and we got an excellent.

V (-ed)
- Had not + V3(-ed)
? Had + subject + V3(-ed)
+ I had seen this film long before you saw it.
- We hadn't known that man until you introduced hum to us.
? Had you finished that project before they reported about it?
Yes, I had. No, I hadn't.

Already, after, never, before, just,for, since, by, till/untill, by the time
Past Perfect Continuous Tense
Употребляется, когда:
 подчёркивается длительность действия, которое началось и
закончилось в прошлом перед другим действием в прошлом: I
had been having a dinner for 10 minutes when he came back home.
 обозначается действие, которое длилось некоторое время в
прошлом, и описывается его результат в прошлом: We had been
doing that work for all day so we got an excellent.

- Had not been + V-ing
? Had + subject + been + V-ing

Yesterday I wrote an essay.
2. Я писал его с 5 до 7 часов вечера.
I was writing it from 5 to 7 pm in the evening.

When my mum came from work I had already finished it.
4. Я его проверял 2 часа прежде чем дал прочитать маме.

I had been checking it for 2 hours before I gave it to my mum to


read.
