     Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Okara, Sahiwal, Multan,
    Bahawalpur and Bahwalnagar
     Physical Characters:
    massive & WEDGED SHAPE, black with white muzzle,
    lower parts of 4 legs, fore head, switch of tail and wall eye
    (PUNJKALIAN), small curly horns.
     Home Tract: Both sides of river Indus from Kashmore to
    Shah Bandar (Sindh).
     Physical Characters:
     Massive jet-black, horns are fish hook shape, broad fore

    head, short neck & medium sized ears.


     Milk yield: 1700-2200 liters with a 6% butterfat.
     Body weight:
     Males, 500-600Kg;
     Females, 300-400Kg.
     Family: Bovidae.
     European cattle: non-humped: Bos taraus
     Pakistani cattle : humped (Zebu): Bos indicus

     Classes:3 on the basis of the purpose for which it is mainly


    kept.

     Physical Characters:
     Medium in size, fleshy body, Females reddish dun color,
    males have darker color around orbit, neck & hindquarter.
     Males: stumpy horns Females: generally poled. Ears:
    Medium sized & dropping, massive hump. Switch of tail
    black.
     Milk yield; 1500-2200 liters with a 4.5% butterfat.
     Body weight: Males: 400-500Kg, Females: 300-350Kg.
     Physical Characteristics:
     Medium sized breed, White body with brown spots or

    brown body color with white spots or tan. Body is wedge


    shaped with fine thick, loose skin, medium short head
    medium sized ears, black muzzle, small and thick horns
    Black eye lids with voluminous dewlap and sheath. Massive
    hump in males. Hooves are black and tail is long with black
    tuft of hair. Male calves are for beef.
     Milk yield; 1200-1800 Liters Fat %age 4.8,
     Av. Live weight Male = 450-500 Kgs, Female,350-400

    Kgs.
     Home Tract: Karachi, Thata, Dadu, Hyderabad (Sindh) &
    Lasbella (Baluchistan)
     Physical Characters:
     Medium in size, compact body & red color; Males: darker
    around shoulders, Hindquarters are round, switch of tail
    black, Ears medium sized & dropping. Hump in males well
    developed & ears are fine & small.
     Milk yield: 1500-2000
     liters with a 4.0% fat.
     Body weight:
     Males 425-525 Kgs;
     Females 300-350 Kgs.
     Home Tract: Jaccobabad (Sindh) to Sibi (Baluchistan).
     Physical Characters: Massive in size, compact well-
    proportioned body & limbs.
     Body color: White or grey deepening to almost black on
    extremities,
     Medium sized head with strong neck, small dewlap, small
    pointed ears, stumpy horns, medium sized hump, straight
    back, wide muscular & dropping hindquarter, and black tail
    switch.
     Body weight:
     Males= 600 Kgs
     Females= 425 Kgs.
     Home Tract: Dajal area in DG Khan Div.
     Physical Characters:

    Off shoot of the Bhagnari, having similar features however


    Dajal cattle are comparatively smaller in size & lighter in
    color.
     Cows are low yielder
     and males are good for

    draught purpose and beef..


     Body weight:
     Males= 590 Kgs
     Females= 400 Kgs
     Home Tract: Attock, Rawalpindi, Chakwal & Jhelum.
     Physical Characters: Medium sized with compact body and varying
    body color:
    1) predominately white coat with black spots (Chitta Burga),
    2) predominately black coat with white spots (Kala Burga)
    3) white mottles with brown and black patches (Nuqra) and
    4) predominately red coat with white spots (Ratta Burga),
    head and ears are small and horns are stumpy, dewlap and hump are compact, back
    straight.
     Low milk yielder,

     Body weight= Males 350-450 Kgs,

     Females = 270-330 Kgs.


     Home Tract: Lorali (Baluchistan) & DI Khan (NWFP).
     Physical Characters: Small sized with short stature. Body

    color; red splashed with white spots,


     Short thick horns, small ears, a short neck, well developed

    hump, moderate dewlap, black tail switch, small tucked up


    udder.
     Low milk yielder,
     Body weight:
     Males 300-350Kg,
     Females 230-280Kg.
     Home Tract: DG Khan (Punjab) & DI Khan (NWFP).
     Physical Characters: small sized with short stature, Body

    color is red and white spotted. short pointed horns, small


    ears, a short neck, well eveloped hump, extended dewlap,
    white tail switch, small tucked up udder.
     Low milk yielder,
     Body weight:
     Males 300-350Kg,
     Females 230-280Kg.
     Home Tract: Tharparker & Badin in Sindh extending to
    Gujrat in India.
     Physical Characters: Color; silver gray to dark gray, Males
    darker at the shoulders, hump and hindquarters. fore head
    broad and slightly concave in the center, nose slightly up
    turned, ears large & pendulous and horns strong and long
    and incurved.
     Fair milk producers.
     Body weight:
     Males 500-650Kg,
     Females 350-400Kg
     Home Tract: Tharparker (Sindh).
     Physical Characters: Medium sized with long tapering face,

    slightly convex fore head, medium sized horns that curve


    upward and out ward, and large, semi-pendulous ears, light
    gray, with the color deepening on the fore and hindquarters
    in males, tail switch is black, well-developed firm hump,
    medium dewlap, deep barrel and strong legs, udder medium
    sized. Average milk production is 1100 liters per lactation
    with 3.7 % butterfat.
     Body weight:Males=400-500Kg
     Females=300-380Kg.
     Desi cattle : 50 %
    50 % beef out of total meat production in the country comes
    from cattle and buffalo.
     Desi buffalo: <40 % and
     Crossbred cattle: app. 15 %

    Is also a main source of beef production
