This document summarizes the components and circuit design of a simple electronic dice. The dice uses an IC555 timer to generate clock pulses and an IC4017 decade counter to count the pulses from 1 to 6, lighting up a corresponding LED. The IC555 timer is configured as an astable multivibrator to produce a square wave output. The IC4017 is a CMOS decade counter chip that counts the clock pulses and cycles through the numbers displayed on the 6 LEDs. A push button is included to reset the counter and restart the counting.

Simple Electronic Dice
Electronic Circuit Assignment
By Mridhulaa ( Class A ECE ) Overview
A simple digital dice as an alternative for traditional dice using IC555 Timer for clock pulse and IC4017 (Decade Counter) to count numbers 1 to 6.
Also discussion of circuits in IC555 timer and IC4017.
Components Required
CD4017 IC Push Button
555 Timer IC 6 LEDs
2 Resistor- 1k Battery - 9v/ RPS
Capacitor- 10uF Connecting Wires
Variable Resistor- 10K
Circuit Diagram IC555 Timer
NE555 timer is used in this circuit.
Timer used as an astable multivibrator in this
circuit.
Connection of resistors given in a way so that 143
milliseconds is the time period for 1 cycle. Astable Multivibrator
An astable multivibrator is a type of
multivibrator that does not require a triggering pulse thus, sometimes known as a free-running multivibrator. It necessarily provides square wave as its output.
Astable multivibrator is called so because both
the states present here are unstable i.e., quasi- stable. This means output swings between 0 and 1 and neither 0 nor 1 is the stable state. IC4017
