ECLIPSE TERMINALS

Company Confidential 1
Eclipse Terminals
• Eclipse Terminals are single-link devices.
Each comprises an IDU & ODU

• IDUs have no plug-in modules; different

versions support different customer
interfaces: E1, Ethernet, SDH

• Compatible with ODU300 range

• Terminals may be operated as single links, or networked where IDUs are

back-to-back connected via their tributary ports at intermediate sites

• Most Terminals can be paired for protected link operation

• Except for the IDU ES, IDU GE and IDU 300 20xV2, Terminals are not
capacity licensed

• All are 1RU

IDU 300 20x & IDU 300 8x

IDU 300 20X

IDU 300 20x: 4x, 5x, 8x, 10x, 16x, 20x E1, QPSK or 16QAM

IDU 300 8x: 4x, 5x, 8x E1, QPSK or 16QAM

Tributaries on individual RJ-45 connectors & software configured for E1

Includes auxiliary data (synchronous 64 kbps or asynchronous to 19.2 kbps)

and alarm I/O options

May be paired to support 1+1 hot-standby operation with Y cables used to

provide single-point Tx & Rx tributary connections. Tx & Rx switching is not
hitless

Supports ODU 300ep, ODU 300hp or ODU 300sp

4 AVIAT NETWORKS | JANUARY 28, 2010 Company Confidential

IDU 300 20xV2

Supports up to 20xE1 tributaries on individual RJ-45 connectors

Modulation options to 16QAM

Capacities to 20 x E1 for single link non-protected operation

Capacities to 40 x E1 for hot-standby or space diversity operation

• IDUs are paired for protected/diversity operation
• For capacities to 20 x E1 normal IDU equipment & path protection
applies, with Y cables used on the tribs
• For higher capacities traffic from the standby IDU is routed to the online
IDU to support termination of up to 40 x E1 tribs. In this configuration trib
& PSU protection is not supported, however RAC/ODU & path protection
functions are retained

IDU 300 20xV2
Contd

40x E1 operation is licensed – requires an upgrade from the

base license

Tx switching is not hitless

Rx switching (voting) is hitless (errorless)

Synchronous or asynchronous auxiliary data & alarm I/O

options are included

Requires ODU 300ep, ODU 300hp, or ODU 300sp

6 AVIAT NETWORKS | JANUARY 28, 2010 Company Confidential

IDUsp 16x and IDUsp 4x

IDUsp 16x
IDUsp 16x and 4x are cost optimized for basic E1 services:
• IDUsp 4x: 4x E1 with QPSK modulation
• IDUsp 16x: 4x, 8x, 16x E1 with QPSK modulation

Paired 300sp 16x IDUs support hot-standby operation; Tx and Rx switching is

not hitless. The IDUsp 4x is not protectable

A single 64 kb synchronous auxiliary data connection is provided; there is no

alarm I/O

IDUsp requires an ODU 300sp; the ODU 300ep & ODU 300hp are not
supported

NMS connection is Ethernet-only; there is no serial interface for Portal PC

connection

7 AVIAT NETWORKS | JANUARY 28, 2010 Company Confidential

IDU 155o

IDU 155o supports a one 155 Mbps STM1 tributary on single-mode optical SC
connectors

Modulation options are 16, 64 or 128 QAM

IDUs are paired to support hot-standby or space diversity operation - optical Y

cables provide a single Tx and Rx interface
• Rx path switching (voting) is hitless. Tx switching is not hitless.

Auxiliary data (synchronous 64 kbps or asynchronous to 19.2 kbps) & alarm I/O
options are included

Supports ODU 300ep or ODU 300hp
