LESSON 1:

Revisiting
Health-Related
Fitness
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the learner is expected to:
Self-assess health related fitness (HRF) status, barriers to
physical activity assessment participation in one’s diet.
Explain the role of physical activity assessments in managing
one’s stress.
Engages in moderate to vigorous activities (MVPA’s) for at
least 60 minutes most days of the week in a variety of
settings in and out of school.

Revisiting Health-Related Fitness
1. Cardiovascular Endurance – It is the ability of the heart,
lungs, and blood vessels to supply oxygen and nutrients to the
working muscles efficiently in order to sustain prolonged
physical activities.
Example activities:
Jogging, Running, swimming,
cycling etc.

2. Muscular Strength – It is the ability of the muscle to
generate the greatest force.

Example activities:
Weight lifting

3. Muscular Endurance – It is the ability of the muscle to resist
fatigue when performing repetitions of a submaximal load.

Example activities:
Planking, squats, wall climbing,
push ups, curl ups etc.

4. Flexibility – It is the ability to move a joint without
pain over its entire range of motion.

Example activities:
Stretching exercises like sit and
reach, straddle stretches,
lunges, hamstring stretch, arm
rotation etc.

5. Body Composition – It refers to the total make-up of the body.
Learning about your body composition is key to your optimal
performance and appearance because it can help you strategize
an exercise plan in terms of your need to lose fat, build muscle
or both.

Example activities:
Depending on the body
composition that an individual
wants wants to achieve.

 Body Mass Index (BMI) - A weight-to-height ratio, calculated
by dividing one's weight in kilograms by the square of one's
height in meters and used as an indicator of obesity and
underweight.
 Compute for your BMI using the given
formula.
 Determine your BMI’s classification. Refer to
the infographic on the previous slide.
 Recall you previous BMI result (last semester)
and compare it with the current. Discuss your
result to the class

Assignment:
 Perform physical activities/exercises and
record your data on your own physical
fitness test (PFT) sheet. PFT will be done
weekly as part of your weekly exercise
routine.
*PFT will be uploaded in the LMS
 List down at least five (5) nature of
dance.
