Pollution Monitoring Boat

This document describes a remote-controlled boat system for monitoring water pollution. The RC boat is equipped with sensors to measure pH, turbidity, temperature and other water quality parameters. The sensor data is transmitted wirelessly to a central monitoring station and mobile app for analysis. The system provides a cost-effective way to efficiently monitor large bodies of water for pollution levels in real-time. Some challenges include ongoing maintenance costs and ensuring comprehensive coverage of waterways, but it is seen as a worthwhile investment for environmental protection.

ABSTRACT 3
 This abstract outlines a novel approach to environmental monitoring using a
remote-controlled (RC) boat equipped with specialized sensors and technology

 Water pollution posses a significant threat to ecosystem and human health

necessitating efficient monitoring methods

 Our RC boat system offers cost-effective , versatile and environmentally friendly

solution for collecting real time.

 The collected data is transmitted wirelessly to a central monitoring station

 This innovative RC boat system provides a valuable tool for enhancing water
quality management and safe guarding aquatic environments
INTRODUCTION
4
 Water quality plays a very important part in the health of animals and human beings.
Example ; Lakes and reservoir , canals are one of the major sources of drinking water
 The first step towards water pollution control is to be able to monitor the actual level of water
pollution
 The problem with water pollution monitoring is the manual effort of taking a boat through a
lake or reservoir each time to monitor pollution throughout the water body
 This RC Water pollution monitor boat allows for recording as well as transmitting water quality
data to an IOT server online.
 This will further help us to maintain the water clean this project is remote –operated and
controlled by an RC remote.
 We include PH sensors as well as turbidity sensor and a dissolved oxygen sensor
 These sensor will detect the presence of suspended particles in the water.
 We also have a GPS module and micro SD card ,which will log the data from sensors as
transmit the same online over IOT at particular intervals

 The existing system is used to measure the PH and turbidity level of water samples . It is controlled by the
Arduino Mega, a propeller system to provide
 Additionally , In this existing system they are using two sensors namely, turbidity sensor and pH sensor which are
used to collect the information from the required water. These sensors are connected to the Arduino Mega.
 The water parameters data are sensed by the sensors and processed data is sent to the connected LCD display. The
output is viewed on the LCD display through the microcontroller
 The different solutions and conclude that they are safe for drinking water by means of PH range and turbidity
values. They are using a joystick module on the transmitter to send data to the receiver over radio using the
NRF24l01. The receiver receives the data and uses the digital pins as output to send the received data as a control
signal. the forward propulsion and servo motor arrangement

HARDWARE COMPONENTS : 6
 In this project we have interfaced Esp-32 micro control to O
different sensors like Ph sensor, temperature sensor, turbidity
sensor.
 The Espwroom32 is used to collect data from the sensors like
Ph level, temperature, turbidity percentage and send this data
to the mobile phone as well as store the data in google excel
sheet
 We have made the remote for the RC boat in such a way that
the RC boat can move in left or right direction. There is a
speed controller in the remote for maintaining the speed
intensity of the boat.
 The Espwroom32 is a powerful, genetic Wi-Fi+ BT
Microcontroller module that targets a wide variety of
applications. It has Maximum power of 3.3V, 12-bit SAR ADC
that is 4096
 The turbidity sensor provides us percentage of clear water ,
temperature sensor provides the temperature rate in Celsius .
The Ph sensor on the scale of 0-14 gives values according to
the type of water
 For example, if the water is basic then it will shown in
above ,if its acidic it will show the reading below 6 and if its

SOFTWARE COMPONENTS:
 Blynk is a new platform that allows you to quickly build
interfaces for controlling and monitoring your
hardware projects from your iOS and Android device.

 After downloading the Blynk app, you can create a project

dashboard and arrange buttons, sliders, graphs, and other
widgets onto the screen.
IMPLEMENTATION 8
 One of the primary practical considerations when implementing RC boat pollution
monitoring technology is cost .
 The initial investment required to purchase and install the necessary equipment can be
significant and on going maintenance costs must also be taken into amount
 However the long term of environmental protection and improved water quality make
it a worthwhile investment
 Another consideration is accessibility monitoring stations must be placed strategically
throughout waterways to ensure comprehensive courage
 It can be challenging in remote (or) hard to reach areas .Additionally this technology
must be designed with user-friendliness in mind
 So that it can be operated by individuals with varying level of technical expensive
 Finally effective data management is critical for ensuring that the data collected by the
monitoring technology can be accurately analysed and used to inform decision-making
 This requires robotic data storage and processing capabilities ,as well as clear protocols for data 9
sharing and dissemination.

To address these challenges ,potential solution include exploring alternative funding models such
as public private partnerships , to help offset the cost of implementation

Additionally , leveraging existing infrastructure , such as floating object (or) other water craft may
help improve accessibility while minimizing cost
CURRENT MONITORING 10
METHODS
Currently, the most common method for monitoring RC boat pollution is through

manual water sampling. This involves physically collecting water samples from
various locations and analyzing them in a lab.
 While this method can be accurate, it is also time-consuming, expensive, and can
only provide information on specific points in time and location.
 Additionally, manual sampling may not capture all of the pollutants present in the
water, as some pollutants may degrade or settle before they can be sampled.
 Another method for monitoring RC boat pollution is through the use of
autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) equipped with sensors. These AUVs
can collect data on water quality parameters such as temperature, pH, dissolved
oxygen, and turbidity.
 However, AUVs are expensive to operate and maintain, and their use is limited by
factors such as battery life and communication range. Furthermore, AUVs may
not be able to reach certain areas of waterways, such as shallow or narrow
sections.
The Problem of RC Boat Pollution
11
 RC boats may seem harmless, but they can have a devastating impact on our
waterways.
 The pollutants they release, such as oil and chemicals from fuel and batteries, can
harm aquatic life and even make their way into our drinking water
 .In addition to harming the environment, RC boat pollution can also be a public
health concern.
 Swimmers and other recreational water users can be exposed to these pollutants,
leading to skin irritation, respiratory problems, and other health issues.
ADVANTAGES &DISADVANTAGES 12
ADVANTAGE: DISADVANTAGE:
 lake Pollution Monitoring  Limited Range
 Reservoir Pollution Monitoring  Limited Operating Time as per
battery capacity
 Easy to Operate
 Automatic Data Logging
 Long Range
 Low Power Consumption
CONCLUSION 13
 Hence, the conclusion is that our water pollution monitoring RC boat is efficient, low cost and
durable.
 It measures the Ph, turbidity and temperature of the water. It gives accurate readings. Anyone
can operate it easily with the help of remote present in mobile.
 We can get the data on mobile and also store it in the google excel sheet . Monitoring of
turbidity, pH & temperature of water makes use of water detection sensor.
 The system can monitor the temperature, Ph and turbidity automatically with the help of
remote control, and it is low in cost. So, the water quality testing is likely to be more
economical, convenient and fast
 .The system has good flexibility. The operation is simple. It has widespread application and
extension value.
