Basic Network Component

 There are many components that can be part of a network, for example
personal computers, servers, networking devices, and cabling.

 These components can be grouped into four main categories:


1. Hosts
2. Shared Peripherals
3. Networking devices
4. Networking media
Servers

 Servers are hosts that have software installed that enable


them to provide information, like email or web pages, to
other hosts on the network.
Clients
 Clients are computer hosts that have software installed that
enable them to request and display the information obtained from
the server.

 An example of client software is a web browser.
