INTRODUCTION

 In most of the urban areas there won’t be a proper cycle of turning the street lights on and
off, this results in wastage of power in those areas which can be conserved and used for
other purposes.
 This project is mainly focused on saving the power provided to street lights by following
a cyclic pattern of turning the street light on and off.
 The street lights can also be turned on and off manually but most of the times it is left in
on condition and this problem had made us to make a prototype that could be
implemented for power saving and efficient street lighting.
ABSTRACT

 This project contains mainly 4 different hardwares i.e) a rtc module,an Arduino , an
intensity sensor that could measure the intensity of the light and a SIM800L GSM
module.
 The intensity sensor will measure the intensity of the light and provide this information to
the Arduino and the Arduino takes this information to turn on the light.
 This results in the less usage of electricity compared to the normal street lights.
 The GSM module will send a message when the LED fails to glow.
Components Required

 Arduino UNO Board.

 RTC Module(DS3231)
 Light Intensity Sensor(BH 1750)
 Arduino interfacing wire
 LED
 Breadboard
 Connecting wires
 SIM800L Module

Advantages

 The smart streetlight monitoring system effectively reduces energy consumption and
increases public well-being and safety.
 Lowered repair and maintenance costs with the monitoring software
 Reduced carbon emissions and light pollution
 Increased lamp life and shorter response times to outages
 Improved architectural planning based on real traffic patterns and insights
APPLICATION

 This project is mainly applicable to rural areas where there is no proper functioning of the
street lights.
 Even in urban areas still people are turning on the street lights manually and this could be
reduced by our project.
 The consumption would be less thus it could be used everywhere.
 Since it notifies the fail of lights it could be useful to the Electricity Board.
