4G DL Power Allocation in Huawei

The document discusses LTE downlink power allocation. It explains that the eNodeB allocates different power levels for different downlink channels. The reference signal power and synchronization channel powers influence cell coverage. Power for other channels like PDCCH is set using offsets from the reference signal power. The goal is to maintain a constant energy per resource element. The document provides examples of how adjusting parameters like reference signal power, PDSCH type A power, and PDSCH type B power can optimize power utilization or maintain coverage depending on scenarios. It recommends settings to maximize power utilization at the RRU.

DL Power allocation

Behzad Rezvani
LTE DL Power allocation

 In downlink, ENB allocates different power level for different DL channels

 The RS power and the SCH powers are key parameters that influences the cell coverage.

 Power of PDCCHs, PHICHs, PCFICHs, PBCHs, primary and Secondary synchronization channels
is set using an offset from RS power

 Tha goal is to maintain a constant energy pre resource elements

LTE DL Power allocation

ODFM symbols in one time slot can be classified into 2 types:

 PDSCH type A :
REs are not in the same symbols as reference signal REs are

 PDSCH type B :
REs in the same symbols as reference signal REs

Since RS power, PA, PB are parameters to be set there is a possibility of wasting some of RRU power

Below is recommended setting is to have maximum utilization
