Procedure Text Civil Engineering, Muhammad Irfan

This document provides step-by-step instructions for making a concrete road. It lists the necessary materials, which include cement, coarse and fine aggregates, water, and reinforcement steel. The 13 steps include site preparation, excavation, subgrade preparation, formwork installation, reinforcement, mixing concrete, pouring, leveling, finishing, curing, cutting expansion joints, drying and allowing the concrete to cure before use. PROCEDURE TEXT

H O W T O M A K E A
C O N C R E T E R O A D

M U H A M M A D I R F A N
GOAL

The goal of this procedure is to provide step-by-step instructions

on how to make a concrete road. A concrete road is durable, long-
lasting, and provides a smooth surface for vehicles and
pedestrians.
• Cement

MATERIALS • Coarse aggregate (gravel or crushed stone)

• Fine aggregate (sand)

• Water

• Reinforcement steel (optional, for added strength)

• Plastic sheeting or curing compound

• Wooden forms (for shaping the road)

• Expansion joint material (for controlling cracks)

• Construction tools (shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows)

• Vibrating compactor (to compact the concrete)

EQUIPMENTS
• Concrete mixer or batching plant
• Concrete pump (optional, for larger projects)
• Bull float (for finishing the surface)
• Trowel (for smoothing the surface)
• Broom (for texture)
• Concrete saw (for cutting expansion joints)
• Safety gear (gloves, goggles, helmets)
1. SITE PREPARATION
• Choose the location and
mark the road’s alignment.
• Clear the area of vegetation
and debris.
• Ensure proper drainage by
creating a slight slope.

STEPS 2. EXCAVATION
• Dig a trench to the desired
depth and width of the road.

3. SUBGRADE
PREPARATION
• Compact the subgrade using a
compactor machine.
• Lay a geotextile fabric to
prevent soil erosion.
4. FORMWORK
INSTALLATION
• Place wooden forms along the
sides of the road to define its
shape.

5. REINFORCEMENT (OPTIONAL)
• If needed, install steel mesh or
STEPS reinforcement bars to add strength.

6. MIXING CONCRETE
• In a concrete mixer, combine
cement, aggregates, and water
according to the mix design.
7. POURING CONCRETE
• Pour the concrete mixture evenly
into the prepared area.
8. LEVELING AND COMPACTING
• Use a bull float to level the concrete
surface.
• Compact the concrete using a
vibrating compactor.
STEPS 9. FINISHING
• Smooth the surface with a
trowel.
• Create a textured finish with a
broom.
10. CURING
• Cover the concrete with plastic
sheeting or apply a curing compound
to prevent rapid drying.
11. EXPANSION JOINTS
• Cut expansion joints into the
concrete to control cracking.

12. DRYING AND CURING

• Allow the concrete to cure for at
STEPS least 7 days before opening it to
traffic.

13. MAINTENANCE
• Regularly inspect and maintain
the concrete road to ensure its
longevity.
THANK YOU.
