Meaning and purpose

 Descritptive text is a text that explains and describe a person, place,or thing. It uses adjective and
adverbs.
Teks Deskripsi adalah text yang menjelaskan dan mendeskripsikan orang, tempat atau benda (sesatu).
Biasanya menggunakan kata sifat dan keterangan.
 The aims / purpose
-To describe person, thing or place in specific
Untuk mendeskripsikan orang, benda atau tempat secara spesifik/khusus
-To describe a particular person, thing or place.
Untuk mendeskripsikan orang secara khusus, benda atau tempat
Language Feature of Descriptive Text

Specific participant : has a certain object, is not common and unique (only one).
for example: Anyer beach, Borobudur tempel, Christiano Ronaldo. Etc

– The use of the adjective (an adjective) to clarify the noun, for example: a
beautiful beach, a handsome man, the famous athlete, etc.

– The use of simple present tense: The sentence pattern used is simple present
because it tells the fact of the object described.

– Action verb: verbs that show an activity (for example, run, sleep, walk, cut
etc.)
Generic Structure of Descriptive text

 Identification: (contains about the introduction of a person, place,


animal or object will be described.)
Indentifikasi (berisi tentang pengenalan orang, tempat, hewan atau
objek yang akan di jelaskan )
 Description: contains a description of something such as animal,
things, place or person by describing its features, forms, colors, or
anything related to what the writer describe.
Deskripsi (berisi tentang gambaran tentang sesuatu seperti hewan,
benda atau orang dengan menggambarkan ciri-cirinya, bentuk, warna atau
apapun yang berhubungan dengan apa yang penulis gambarkan
