Types of Databases

There are several main types of databases: 1) Network databases organize data into interconnected records representing entities and relationships. This model can handle multiple relationship types. 2) Object-oriented databases store both data and relationships in single structures called objects, allowing storage of complex data types. This improves code reuse and flexibility. 3) Mobile databases are transportable and can communicate between corporate servers and remote sites, allowing sharing of data on the go. 4) Relational databases store data in tables with rows and columns, using keys to identify individual records. This provides structured storage and querying of information. 5) Cloud databases deploy databases in cloud environments rather than on-premises, enabling database

What is DATA?
Data is information that is collected, stored, and processed. It can be in a form of

A data is critical component of many fields, including business, science, technology,
and the social sciences also it is used to inform decision-making, drive innovation,
and improve understanding of the world around us.
2 Types of Database Data
DATABASE
is a collection of data that is organized and
stored in a structured format, allowing for
easy access, manipulation, and analysis of the
data. Databases can be used to store a wide
variety of data, , including financial records,
customer information, inventory records,
and more. There are many types of Databases
that can be used in a variety of applications,
such as data warehousing, online
transaction processing, etc.

1. Network Database
• A network database uses a network model to organize data. In a network database, data
is organized into a series of interconnected records, with each record representing an
entity and the relationships between the entities represented as lines connecting the
records. Structure Of Network

4 Network Database VG
ADVANTAG
ES :
• This model is very simple and easy to design like the
hierarchical data model.

• This model is capable of handling multiple types of

relationships.

• This network does not allow a member to exist without an

owner which leads to the concept of Data integrity.

2. Object-Oriented Database
• In this type of model, both the data and relationship are represented in a single
structure called an object. We can store audio, video, images, etc. in this database. In
this model, the attributes describe the properties of an object.

6 Object-Oriented Database PG
ADVANTAG
•ES:
Efficient representation of complex data structures

• Improved code reuse and modularity

• Support for data integration

• Flexibility and adaptability

• Improved performance

3. Mobile Database
• Mobile Database is a database that is transportable, portable, and physically
separate or detached from the corporate database server but has the capability to
communicate with those servers from remote sites allowing the sharing of
various kinds of data.

8 Mobile Database AD
COMPONENTS :
• Corporate database serverthat deals with and stores the
corporate data and provides corporate applications

• Remote database which manages and stores the mobile data and
provides mobile applications

• Mobile database platform that includes a laptop, PDA, or other

Internet access devices

• Two-way communication links between corporate and mobile

DBMS.

4. Relational Database
In Relational Database he data is stored in relational tables. These tables have several
rows and columns, also known as records and fields. A key is a common name for the
unique ID that each document has.

10 Relational Database AS
FEATUR
ES:
•It provides all of the data that is contained in the tables.

• It ensures that all information is kept as rows and columns.

• It allows for the primary key, which aids in the rows' individual
identification.

5. Cloud Database
A cloud database is simply a database that is deployed in a cloud environment as
opposed to an on-premises environment. This means that organizations can build
databases without the purchase of the physical hardware and infrastructure needed
for on-premise databases.

12 Cloud Database DG
FEATUR
ES:
• A database service is accessed through a cloud platform

• Enables enterprise users to host databases.

• It can be managed by the customer.

• It doesn’t need any physical hardware to run.
