Cloud computing refers to storing, managing, and accessing data and programs over the internet on remote servers rather than local hard drives. It enables users to conveniently access computing resources from cloud providers like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft. Cloud computing is generally categorized into private and public clouds. Private clouds are maintained on private networks for a single organization while public clouds are available to the public over the internet. Multimedia cloud computing utilizes the large computational, storage, and bandwidth capacity of clouds for multimedia applications and services like video streaming and photo sharing.

• Describe cloud computing for multimedia service
• The word “cloud computing” refers to the service that are accessed over the internet and present at remote location.
• It means storing, managing, accessing the data and the program on the remote service that are hosted on internet instead of computer hard drive.
• The emergence of cloud computing has changed the service model for modern computer application, it enables user to conveniently access computing
infrastructure, platform and software provided by cloud provider Example Amazon, google and Microsoft.
• Cloud user can store their data in the cloud instead of on their own devices, making ubiquitous data access possible
• CATEGORIES OF CLOUD COMPUTING
• Cloud is generally categorized into two
• 1.Private cloud
• In a public cloud, the service and infrastructure are provided off-site over the public internet. These clouds offer the greatest level of efficiency in resource sharing
however, they can be less secure and more vulnerable than private clouds
• Are generally maintained on private networks and usually utilized by a single data center tenant to provide service to their customers.
• 2.Public cloud
• In private cloud the service and infrastructure are maintained on a private network.
• These cloud offer the greatest level of efficiently and control, though they require a company still purchases and maintain the software and infrastructure.
• Are available as a public utility where multiple tenants can purchase resource to provide service to their customers. Example Amazon elastic computer cloud(Ec2)

Smartphone
•• Cloud users use an internet enabled devices to connect to a channel computing
provider
•• The cloud provider can provide superior computing resources such as storage,
computation & bandwidth
•• End users can store data in the cloud, making ubiquitous data access possible

• Cloud computing characteristics

• 1. Measured service
• Computing resources usage i.e. computation, storage & bandwidth can be monitored,
controlled and reported to both the cloud provider and end user.
• 2. Broad network access
• Persistent & high quality network access is available
• Multimedia cloud computing

• The large computational, storage and bandwidth capacity of cloud

make it a very attractive platform for multimedia application.
• Multimedia cloud computing and general cloud computing share many
commonalities
• Example of multimedia services are voice over IP, video, conferencing and
video streaming, photo sharing and editing
• Benefits of cloud computing
• 1. Pay-per user model
• You can only pay for the cloud services that you are using, you don’t have to
pay extra.
• 2. Availability
• It’s available 24/7, you can always use it at any time, anywhere.
• 3. Security
• It provide secure data and information.
• 4. Manageable
