Knowledge
The fact condition of knowing something with familiarity gained through
experience. Knowledge has a paradoxical but critical relationship with both
creativity and innovation.
Creativity
A process of developing and expressing novel ideas that are likely to be useful.

1. ORANIZATIONAL
The organizational is a part of the concept of the innovation and
development and accentuation new ideas and the prospensity for change
within organization. On the other hand, Core capabilities underlie
innovation.
4 Dimensions of core capabilities:
1. EMPLOYEE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS - an employee can know a lot about a
subject matter, but might not have the skills required to successfully apply that
knowledge to achieve specific tasks.
2. TECHNICAL SYSTEM AND EMBODIED PROPRIETARY KNOWLEDGE - Anything
regarded as extremely valuable that an individual or a firm created and that is
not permitted to be transmitted or exhibited publicly.
3. MANAGERIAL SYSTEM (process of knowledge creation and control -
describe the way in which companies organize themselves in their
structure and processes in order to act systematically, ensure smooth
processes and achieve planned result.
4. VALUES AND NORMS ASSOCIATED WITH KNOWLEDGE AND IT'S
CREATION -VALUES are the basic beliefs that guide the actions of
individuals. While - NORMS are the expectations that society has for
peoples behavior.
2. GROUP LEVEL
For groups, as for whole organization, knowledge
both helps and hinders creativity. A danger in groups
charged with innovating is that innovative thought
will be relegated to the "creatives" that is, these
individuals whose job titles or history mark them as
the ordained sources of new ideas. Creative ideas in
groups arise from the members. Group composition,
cohesion, norms, processes, and leadership all
determine the level of creativity a group expresses.
How does group cohesion can hurt creativity?
High levels of cohesion can cause pressure for members to
conform their behavior.
How does minority opinions challenge undesirable group of
cohesion?
they concluded that the Expression of minority views
influence others in group to re-analyze a problem and in the
process perhaps function more creatively and accurately.
What is group norms?
are rules or guidelines that reflect expectations of how
group members should act and interact.
What is risk-taking psychological safety?
Psychological safety refers to the perception of an
individual that they are able to speak up, take risks, and make
mistakes without fear of negative consequences to their self-
image, status, or career.
What is the role of hierarchy and expertise in creativity?
Hierarchy makes leaders accountable for results, and
provisions for their replacing failures with someone new.
Expertise in creativity the ability to think about a task or a
problem in a new or different way, or the ability to use the
imagination to generate new ideas.
What are the group processes that guide innovation?
-Strategy
A clear vision and plan to achieve the company’s defined goals
-Process
A way for a strategy implementation – who, what, when, why
-Structure
The proper organizational structure in the company allows
innovation more effectively
-Culture
Company mindset, bring the best of each person into the
company.
What is brain storming?
Is an activity that will help you generate more
innovative ideas
What is incubation?
Is an organization or program that supports new
businesses, ideas, and ventures.
What is dysfunctional momentum?
Occurs when people persist in working toward a goal
despite evidence that their course of action will fail.
What is emphatic?
Empathetic design is an approach where designers put themselves in
the shoes of users to understand their feelings and experiences. It involves
taking the user's perspective to create products or services that are
meaningful and effective.
