Graduation Project:

LIMU PDI APP

By

CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
software engineering has helped the fields with critical operations by

automating its tasks that are critical and difficult to tolerate any errors.

The medical field is very critical and any error might result in great

casualties like permanent damage or the loss of life. Many of these errors

are caused by false assessments.

INTRODUCTION

Prosthodontics is a branch of dentistry which centers on the design,

creation, and placement of replacements for missing or damaged teeth.

In the process of assessing the state of a patient's mouth in the case of

prosthodontic treatment. The prosthodontist is required to perform a

special assessment, which is the PDI Assessment.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Prosthodontists face many problems while performing dental

measurement for the design of the denture, many of which lie in the

human errors and mistakes which bread many health problems for the

patient, loss of resources and time, and the risks of use of information

loss due to the use of paper.

MOTIVATION

This project's motive is to solve the problems of human errors by

automating the class selection process after the PDI assessment, in

order to:

- make it easier to access that information

- reduce the use of paper and store the patient's information in a safe

environment where the permitted users can have access to it.

SCOPE

This mobile application will serve prosthodontists in the process of

assessing the dental index for denture, the user will be able to specify the

class of severity in certain aspects such as mucosal condition, Throat

palate form. etc. The application will target the dentistry clinic in the

Libyan International Medical University, Benghazi, Libya.

PROPOSED SOLUTION

To develop a mobile application that enables students and interns in the

clinic to perform the PDI assessments with their phones instead of paper.
Students will be able to keep and retrieve their patient's assessments,
while the students' supervisors can search the patients of their students.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION

FEASIBILITY STUDY

Technical Feasibility:

The technology needed to implement the commissioned software within

the limits of what has been requested is provided is ready to be used.

(Flutter Framework, PHP, XCode)

The features requested by the stakeholders are practical and are very

well thought-out, they also ought to be simple and straightforward yet

highly useful. Which proves that the commissioned software is highly

technically feasible.
FEASIBILITY STUDY

Operational Feasibility:

The application is guaranteed to operate inside the clinic of the Libyan

International Medical University since the application was privately

commissioned by the coordinators of the faculty of dentistry in the

university.
REQUIREMENTS GATHERING TECHNIQUES -
INTERVIEWS

Interviews that were conducted was with Dr. Rabie Elhuni where we discussed the issues regarding the index that is currently

used in the clinic and what improvements that could be applied upon it. After two hours of gathering attributes from different

indexes and altering them in a way that would be more user friendly. The end result covered many aspects that the existing

index have missed and will potentially improve the process of the assessment:
1. Patient's expectations:
(Neutral /Medium /High)

2. Oral/Dental hygiene:
(Good /Sufficient /Insufficient)

3. Neuromuscular coordination:
(Good (I) /Fair (II) / Poor (III))

IMPLEMENTATION
BACK-END

API (Application Program Interface):

The API in this project is essential for the process of manipulating &

transmitting data from the front-end app to the database, whereas the API

acts as the middle in this process.

The API used for this project was coded using Native PHP which is a

server-side scripting language.

Technologies used:

- Visual Studio Code

- Postman

- MySQL Database
FRONT-END

Flutter Framework

Google’s free and open-source UI framework for creating native

mobile applications which allows developers to build software

applications with a single codebase and programming language.

Technologies used:

- Visual Studio Code

- XCode
CHAPTER V

TESTING
TEST CASE 1
TEST CASE 2
CONCLUSION

The LIMU PDI mobile app, which has been implemented via the new and growing Flutter framework has been designed for the same

purpose.

While its current version will bring a great difference in the productivity of students, Its main flexible structure and its timeless and

minimal user interface can and will introduce many more functionalities and features in the future.
