Educational media is a type of
media, that is used to educate people.
Educational media can include computer
programs, television show, and Radio
broadcasts.
Definition of Educational Media
Education media can be said to
be the methods of delivery of knowledge to
the desired agents.

communication, such as television,
radio, and the newspaper. Computer
media can be hard drives, removable

Print media is a rather
commonly used term referring to the
medium that disseminates printed
matter. In everyday life we refer to print
media as the industry associated with
the printing.

The Role Of Print Media
Media is every where, it has become
a part of our daily life. The media play a
dominant role in the learning process. Media
has potential to change the way we perceive
and understand the world and immediate reality.
The role of print media in the process of
education is of special importance. Print media
like Newspaper, Journals, and Magazines are
the basic and oldest channels of communication
between one source to other.
Print media are being printed in
every regional language so the
readers to get information and
knowledge in ones own mother
tongue.
Newspaper
Through newspaper, we can
get news, information and we can
learn our national language.
English newspaper are very
helpful to learn the English language.
Journal
The journal of educational
change welcomes and supports
contributions from a range of disciplines,
including history, psychology, political
science, sociology, philosophy and
administration.
MAGAZINES
Through magazines, we can learn by
articles, features interviews, short
stories, and we can get very nice
literature by magazines.
Different types magazines having
different and versatile knowledge of over
all the world.
Gives students and teachers alike a common
approach to critical thinking that, when
internalized, becomes second nature for
life.
Provides an opportunity for
intergrating all subject areas and creating
a common vocabulary that applies across
all disciplines.
Helps meet state standards while at
the same time using fresh contemporary
media content which students love.
Increase the ability and
proficiency of students to communicate
[express] and disseminate their thought
and ideas in a wide range of print and
electronic media.
The Role of Media in Education
The role of media in education is
evident today by the number of computer labs,
television sets and libraries that have become
part of curriculum in most schools today.
Media comes in different forms and
each forms affects the way students learn and
interpret information.
Media has brought the world closer,
so that now students from different universities
in different parts of the world are connected
through a mere internet connection.
The concept of democracy was
based on the fact that if individuals are
educated to certain level then can rule
themselves effectively.
The educational role of a few important kinds
of mass media is given in the following paras:

The educational radio has far
reaching advantages in teaching-learning
process. It has numerous functions to
perform in the schools as well as classroom..

If properly used and
efficiently organised, radio service can help a
lot in enriching the existing programmes in
the school.
III. Stimulates Pupil’s Internet:
Frequent broadcasters on national and
international activities stimulate pupils
interest in national and international affairs.

IV. Furnishes up-to-date information:


Radio programmes and
school broadcasters furnish up-to-date and
correct material on day-to-day happenings.
V. Develops Critical Thinking:
Radio broadcasters if
listened to attentively and carefully help
a lot of developing critical thinking in
intelligent children.
IV. Leisure time interest:
Radio is an important
medium of useful and interesting
Leisure-time activities.
Classroom Use of Radio
The class-room use of radio
is a real test of the teacher. The best
teacher is the one who is able to make
the best use of every kind of experience
in or outside classroom.
In case of radio, it is not
enough to tell the “Now close your
books. Let’s have a radio programmes”.
There are four major phases of class-
room procedure in the use of the Radio:

1.Preparation

2.Reception

3.Discussion

4.Application
Preparation
Preparation for the listening is
very important. If the radio is to become a
useful tool of teaching and learning.
Preparation involves the following aspects.
 Clear objectives
 Gathering advance information
 Motivation
Reception

This is the second


important phase of class-room procedure.
Reception, which involves proper listening,
can be facilitated by providing suitable
physical conditions in the classroom. The
class-room should be well arranged for
learning and listening.
Discussion

Immediately after the broad-


cast, a good discussion on the main
points of the broadcast should follow the
information gathered may be applied
properly.
