The document provides guidance for conducting a fire drill to practice emergency evacuation plans and proper fire safety responses. It outlines 6 phases of the drill: 1) sounding alarms, 2) responding to signs of fire and smoke, 3) evacuating the building along predetermined routes, 4) assembling at designated areas, 5) taking head counts, and 6) evaluating the drill to identify problems and solutions. The goals are for learners to develop and practice an emergency plan including checking doors for heat before opening and stopping, dropping, and rolling if their clothes catch fire.

Fire Drill
Prepared by: Margarita A. Mariano Learning Competency 1. Follow fire emergency and evacuation plans (DRR11/12-IIe-f-41)
Specific Learning Outcomes
1. develop their own emergency preparedness plan in case of a fire; and 2. practice proper response in case of fire. The Fire Drill 1. Let the learners practice the emergency and evacuation plans. 2. Do not forget to “stop, drop, and roll” when their clothes caught fire. 3. Let them check doors first if they are warm/hot before opening. Conduct the Fire Drill Phase 1: Alarm – Fire alarms are sounded. Phase 2: Response – Learners will have to be alert for fire, and smoke. Phase 3: Evacuation – All building occupants evacuate, following pre-determined routes to the evacuation areas. Conduct the Fire Drill Phase 4: Assembly – At the designated evacuation area, learners are grouped together. Phase 5: Head Count – Teachers should check to make sure all participants are accounted for. Phase 6: Evaluation – Evaluation of the drill is conducted to identify problems during the drill and how these be corrected
