Contemporary art as the art of today, produced by

artists who are living in the twenty-first century. There


are various art forms in the Philippines.
The seven major forms are:

Philippine Literature
• 21st century literature per se, is anything that
was written and published in the year 2000s.
It is a bit too early to give a definite and
elaborate description of the 21st century
literature in the Philippines and the world.

Manila.
• Joaquin was conferred the rank and title of
National Artist of the Philippines for Literature.

Kulintang
a modern term for
an ancient
instrumental form of
music composed on a
row of small,
horizontally laid
gongs that function
melodically,
accompanied by
larger, suspended
gongs and drums.
Rondalla
an ensemble of stringed instruments played
with the plectrum or pick and generally known
as plectrum instruments. It originated in
Medieval Spain The tradition was later taken to
Spanish America and the Philippines. The word
rondalla is from the Spanish ronda, meaning
"serenade."
