Why is the particular topic chosen?
Now-a-Days Appropriate Management Software in Hospitals is a MUST. Computerization at following places in
a Hospital is essential for providing satisfactory services to its patients.
i. Reception: as soon as patient walks in, all details of patient are entered in computer..most hospitas have
software which helps to book appointment, send reminders to patients etc
ii. Doctor’s room: These days hospitals are going paperless and so all patient records including their medical
condition, investigation ordered and treatment etc is entered in software available in computer at the
doctor's desk
iii. Investigation room: Investigations are done and uploaded into software and reports can be assessed by
doctor from his/her room
iv. Pharmacy: Pharmacy uses computer to upload stock available, medicine sold on particular day and to
generate invoice
v. Stores: Hospital maintain store room and computers are used here to maintain stock of all medical
equipment and consumables
vi. Counselling Purpose: Many hospitals appoint Counsellors to explain the medical condition to patients and
discuss treatment options. They also explain and demonstrate surgical options via special software on
computer

Methodology:
• Hospital management system can be developed by using Waterfall
Model which is a popular version of Software Development Life
Cycle for Software Engineering.

Modules:
1. Front Office Module, which is the module for registering a patient and scheduling appointments. This module
creates the patient record, which is the main pivot around which the work flow links other records.
2. Lab Reports Module, which deals with the scheduling of lab tests and links the results of the lab tests to the patient
record.
3. Indoor Patients Module, for administering the admission and discharge of in-patients. I will maintain the record of
the patient care throughout the treatment, including physician reports, daily charts, diagnostics, blood requests,
Pre-OP and Post-OP procedures, medication and follow-up instructions.
4. Blood Bank, maintains a database of the donors, screening history, blood stock inventory, and all the functions for
the management of the Blood Bank.
5. HR Module, which handles the personnel management of the employees of NWGH. It also has the capability to
manage recruitment and keep a record of the hiring processes.

Testing Method(s):
The application is proposed to develop in modules. Each module is proposed to put through three levels of
testing. The Unit and Functional Testing will be done by the developer, while the Integration testing will be
done by the developers as well as the users of the system. As each module will pass through the functional
testing, it will be integrated with the system on a test server. The developers would test it for stability and
functionality, and fixes will be made as required. Following that, the integrated release up to that point, with a
test database, would be exposed to the relevant users of the hospital. The users will be provided with mobile
telephone numbers of the developers so that any anomalies would be reported and observed immediately.

What contribution would the Project made:
• A manual system can’t assure foolproof and 100% accurate processing. There are possibilities of errors and mistakes.
Installing an automated management system removes the chance of error completely, and avoid compliance issues and
lawsuits, the two biggest hassles for medical centers and hospitals these days.

• A good quality management system makes sure that the operational and clinical decision-making process is fast, accurate
and efficient. With an easy, single view availability of data points, doctors and medical support staff gets facilitated.

• A full-fledged hospital management system keeps every bit of information secure from unauthorized access.

• Better revenue management :- An automated hospital management system that is tailored as per the business
requirements can solve the purpose effectively. It offers fast and accurate transactional and management reports that give
an instant feel of how the business is doing.
