FIRST-EVER TO BE RECOGNIZED AS A NATIONAL ARTIST OF THE PHILIPPINES.
HE WAS RECOGNIZED AS SUCH FOR HIS "PIONEERING USE OF IMPRESSIONISTIC
TECHNIQUE" AS WELL AS HIS SKILL IN THE USE OF LIGHTING AND BACKLIGHTING IN HIS
PAINTINGS.

PAINTER AND WAS AWARDED NATIONAL ARTIST OF THE PHILIPPINES FOR
VISUAL ARTS (PAINTING) IN 2006. HE WAS TAGGED AS A “MASTER OF THE
PHILIPPINE CONTEMPORARY ARTS”.

CARLOS “BOTONG “ FRANCISCO IS A NATIONAL ARTIST FOR PAINTING (1973)
ALSO, HE WAS A MURALIST FROM ANGONO, RIZAL. FOR NEARLY THREE
DECADES, MOST OF HIS SUBJECTS DEPICT THE LIFE IN HIS HOMETOWN AND
HIGHLIGHT THE LIVES OF THE FARMERS AND FISHERMEN.

IN PAINTING. HE WAS ALSO AN ART DIRECTOR PRIOR TO GOING

ABDULMARI ASIA IMAO WAS A FILIPINO PAINTER AND SCULPTOR. IMAO WAS NAMED
NATIONAL ARTIST OF THE PHILIPPINES FOR SCULPTURE IN 2006. A TAUSŪG, IMAO IS THE
FIRST MORO TO RECEIVE THE RECOGNITION.ASIDE FROM BEING A SCULPTOR, IMAO IS

THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES. HE WAS DESIGNATED AS A
NATIONAL ARTIST OF THE PHILIPPINES FOR SCULPTURE IN 1973, THREE YEARS
BEFORE HIS DEATH.[3]
