Introduction
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor device that emits light when an electric current flows through it.A
LED display is a flat panel display that uses an array of light-emitting diodes as pixels for a video display. Their
brightness allows them to be used outdoors where they are visible in the sun for store signs and billboards. The
term LED stands for Light Emitting Diodes. while LEDs make use of diodes. These diodes are extremely small lights,
which in turn helps to save space.
How LED Displays Work
An LED display consists of many closely-spaced LEDs. By varying the brightness of each LED, the diodes jointly form
an image on the display. To create a bright colour image, the principles of additive colour mixing are used, whereby
new colours are created by mixing
. light in different colours.

LEDs are semiconductor instruments that transfer electrical energy into light energy by employing the principles of quantum
theory. Based on this theory, when electrons move from a higher to a lower level, they emit energy in the form of photons. This
energy of the photons is equivalent to the gap between the lower and higher level. This phenomenon is commonly known as
electroluminescence.

LEDs are made of a thin layer of heavily doped semiconductor material. The forward biased LED produces light depending on the
elements used as the semiconductor. Diodes are forward-biased in an LED. This allows the electrons from the semiconductor
conduction band to recombine with the hole from the valence band. The energy level of the holes is lesser compared to the
energy level of electrons.
Advantages of LED DIsplays

Slim Design.
Brighter and sharper Images.
Better Color.
Flicker-Free Images.
Better Picture Quality(true black picture)
No motion delay and lags.
Longer lifespan and less environmental impact.
Lower Power Consumption
Types of LED Displays
1.Text Display LEDs: Just as the name implies, text display LEDs consist of a primary screen which consists of an
array of LEDs and they are designed to display only text and alphanumeric information. It is important to note
that these types of LEDs displayed are preprogrammed to display certain kinds of text. For example, the
Welcome LED board you see in restaurants or the "We're Open"/"We are closed" LED boards you see in various
stores are typical examples.
2.Image display LED: This type of LED display is often more sophisticated than text display, such that they
feature two LED screens and these screens work together to display images. These types of LEDs are capable of
displaying text. The images and text displayed in an image display LED are stationary. You will often see these
types of LEDs on a typical simple billboard.
3.Video display: These are the type of LEDs you will find on modern billboard ads such as those in Times Square.
And these types of LEDs are designed by featuring numerous high-pixel LEDs that display moving images with a
higher resolution.
4.Digital display: The only difference between a digital display and a text display LED is that digital display LEDs
screens are only designed to show numeric values. They illuminate red or glowing orange light and this is
because they are made of a seven-segment digital Nixie tube. This type of Nixie tube uses 7 segments to create
all the digits needed to be displayed. You will often see these types of LEDs in banks displaying currency data or
in digital clocks.
LED TV Features and Specifications
An LED TV uses less power, provides a brighter display with better contrast, a thinner panel, and lesser
heat dissipation than a conventional LCD TV. This is because an LED TV uses light-emitting diodes for
backlighting as opposed to the CCFLs of conventional LCD TVs.
Specifications
When considering LED TV specifications, several key factors are important to understand. Here
are some of the common specifications to look for when evaluating LED TVs:
 Screen Size
 Resolution
 HDR (High Dynamic Range
 Contrast Ratio
 Brightness
 Color Gamut
 Viewing Angle
 Connectivity
 Audio
 Design and Aesthetics
How LED TVs Work
The way an LED TV works is, again, via a backlight,
which is partially composed of two layers of polarizing
material with a liquid crystal solution between them.
When an electric current passes through the liquid
solution, it causes the crystals to align so that light is
transmitted.
Future Outlook
In the future, the most incredible technologies
of LEDs can be enhanced from organic light
emitting diodes-OLEDs. The organic substances
and materials are used to create these devices
to be more flexible, and also able to create
bendable lights and displays.
Conclusion
In conclusion, LED displays and LED TVs have revolutionized the visual technology landscape, offering
significant advantages and advancements over traditional display technologies. Throughout this presentation,
we explored the key aspects and benefits of LED displays and TVs.

LED technology provides superior picture quality, with high contrast ratios, wide color gamut, and excellent
color reproduction. LED displays offer energy efficiency, lower power consumption, and longer lifespans
compared to other display technologies. LED TVs deliver enhanced brightness, slim designs, and a range of
features such as HDR support, smart capabilities, and connectivity options.
As LED technology continues to evolve, we can expect further improvements in image quality, design, and
integration with emerging technologies. LED displays and LED TVs are at the forefront of the display industry,
illuminating the way we consume media, engage with content, and redefine our visual experiences.
