WEEK 16
RA 6728- Government Assistance to Students and Teachers
in Private Education Act.
 Section 1. Title. - This Act shall be known as the "Government Assistance To Students and
Teachers In Private Education Act.“
 Section 2. Declaration of Policy. - It is declared policy of the State in conformity with the mandate
of the Constitution, to promote and make quality education accessible to all Filipino citizens. 
 SECTION 3. Criteria for Assistance. - The programs for assistance shall be based on a set of
criteria which shall include, among others, tuition fees charged by the schools, the socio-economic
needs of each region.

RA 8545- Expanded Government Assistance to Students and Teachers


in Private Education Act.
 SEC. 4. Forms of Assistance. — Assistance to private education shall consist of assistance to students
and assistance to teachers.
 SEC. 5. Tuition Fee Supplements for Students in Private High Schools. — Financial Assistance for
tuition for students in private high schools shall be provided by the government through a voucher system.
 SEC. 7. Expansion of the Existing Educational Service Contracting (ESC) Scheme. — The
Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) shall continue to enter into contracts with private
schools whereby the government shall shoulder the tuition and other fees of high school students who
shall enroll in private high schools under this program.
RA 7877-Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995.
 SECTION 1. Title. – This Act shall be known as the “Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995.”
 SEC. 2. Declaration of Policy. – The State shall value the dignity of every individual, enhance the development of its
human resources guarantee fell respect for human rights, and uphold the dignity of work rs, employees, applicants for
employment, students or those undergoing training, instruction or education.
 SEC. 3. Work, Education or Training-related Sexual Harassment Defined. – Work, education or training-related sexual
harassment is committed by an employer, employee, manager, supervisor, agent of the employer, teacher, instructor,
professor, coach, trainor, or any other person who, having authority, influence or moral ascendancy over another in a work
or training or education environment, demands, requests or otherwise requires any sexual favor from the other, regardless
of whether the demand, request or requirement for submission is accepted by the object of said Act.

RA 8190- Granting Priority to Residents of the Barangay,


Municipality or City where the school is Located, in the
Appointment or Assignment of Classroom Public Schoolteachers.
 SECTION 1. In the appointment or assignment of teachers to public elementary or secondary schools,
priority shall be given to bona fide residents of the barangay, municipality, city or province where the school
is located: Provided, That the teacher possesses all the minimum qualifications for the position as required
by law.
 SEC. 2. In the exercise of its disciplinary authority, the Secretary of Education, Culture and Sports
shall impose the following administrative sanctions for any willful violation of this Act: (1) first
violation - suspension of one (1) month without pay; (2) second violation - suspension of two (2) months
without pay; and (3) third violation and subsequent violations hereof – suspension of six (6) months without
pay.
RA 9262- Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children
Act of 2004.
 Republic Act No. 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (VAWC Law), in
2004 to protect women and children from all forms of violence. The VAWC Law is an important legal
framework that aims to ensure the safety and security of women and children in the Philippines.

RA 9710- Magna Carta for Women.

 The Magna Carta of Women (MCW) is a comprehensive women’s human rights law that seeks to
eliminate discrimination through the recognition, protection, fulfillment, and promotion of the rights of
Filipino women, especially those belonging to the marginalized sectors of society.
RA 8491- Flag and Heraldic Code of the
Philippines
 The law states that “reverence and respect” must be given at all times “to the flag, the anthem and
other national symbols which embody the national ideals and traditions and which express the
principles of sovereignty and national solidarity.”

RA 10157- The Kindergarten Education Act.


 SECTION 1. Short Title. – This Act shall be known as the “Kindergarten Education Act”.
 SEC. 2. Declaration of Policy. – This Act shall apply to elementary school system being the first
stage of compulsory and mandatory formal education. Thus, kindergarten will now be an integral
part of the basic education system of the country.
 SEC. 4. Institutionalization of Kindergarten Education. – Kindergarten education is hereby
institutionalized as part of basic education and for school year 2011-2012 shall be implemented
partially, and thereafter, it shall be made mandatory and compulsory for entrance to Grade 1.
RA 10533- Enhanced Basic Education Act of
2013.
 The State shall establish, maintain and support a complete, adequate, and integrated system of
education relevant to the needs of the people, the country and society-at-large.

RA 10931- Universal Access to Quality


Education Act
 Philippine law that institutionalizes free tuition and exemption from other fees in state universities
and colleges (SUCs), and local universities and colleges (LUCs) in the Philippines.
