Model Testing Plan, Evaluation & Outputs
● Executed rigorous testing of proposed solutions: time series analysis for demand
forecasting and classification for demand categorization.
● Generated a demand classification model to anticipate future sales figures to
manage stock levels
● Generated actionable insights through visualizations showcasing stock levels,
demand patterns, and lead times.
● Outputs included accurate demand forecasts, categorized products based on
demand patterns, and insights into inventory trends.
● Key findings guided subsequent steps for inventory optimization and quality
control improvements.
3
Model Adjustments & Amendments
• The product sales values were categorized into low, medium and high demand based on the quartile
distribution (>75%, >50% and < 50 %) as the client had not provided it
• Product demand prediction classification model was overfitting the data - the model parameters were not
adjusted as the dataset had few data points
• For predicting defect rates, decision tree model was used to narrow down the most important variables
affecting it - product type, production volume and manufacturing lead time
4
Data Visualization & Communication of Insight
• Utilized various visualization tools to represent time series trends, defect rates, and process
variations had not provided it

Interpretation of the solution
Root cause analysis identified factors influencing defect rates across product
categories
• Product type
○ Production volume
○ Manufacturing lead time
15
Conclusion, Recommendations & Next Steps for Client
● Concluded that effective inventory management and quality control are critical for optimizing operations.
● Recommended implementing optimal reorder points and safety stock levels based on demand forecasts.
● Suggested refining manufacturing processes to reduce variations and defects, enhancing product quality.
● Advised reallocating quality control resources based on root cause analysis findings.
● Next steps involve implementing the proposed recommendations and monitoring their impact on performance.
● By following these recommendations, ABC Company can achieve improved customer satisfaction, reduced costs,
and streamlined operations.
16
Client Feedback
"The findings are eye-opening and
align with our observations
regarding inventory challenges."
18
Personal Reflection
● Risks: Managed overfitting risk through validation; incomplete data was mitigated with
caution.
● Dependencies: Collaborated with stakeholders to address constraints and ensure
progress.
● Time Management: Deviations managed through regular monitoring and adaptation of
project plan.
