PPTLRC – A VIEW
DR. PPTLRC - ABOUT
 SCMS School of Engineering and Technology Library is one
of the best Libraries among self financing engineering
college libraries of Kerala. As the heart of the College it plays
a great role in the academic development of the parent
institution. It started its function with a vision to serve the
information needs of its users and it mainly holds books
related to engineering and allied subjects. The SCMS School
of Engineering and Technology organized its library in the
year 2001. In 2016 the SSET Library shifted to a new
independent nature friendly building having 2310 M 2 and
renamed as Dr. PRADEEP P. THEVANNOOR LEARNING
RESOURCE CENTRE in the name of our former Vice
Chairman Dr. Pradeep P Thevannoor.
ABOUT – CONTD…..

The library has a collection of over 37600 volumes of engineering and


technology related books. The library is also subscribing to 140+ Printed
technical journals and general magazines. Full text online databases like
IEEE Explore-ASPP, ASCE, ASME, J-GATE of famous Learned Societies
of the World comprising of more than 6000 journals are subscribed to and
freely accessible. NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced
Learning), DELNET (Developing Library Network) are the other Digital
Library Resources accessible by our users. 15 high end systems are
provided to access the e-Resources. Library also has a good collection of
CDs and DVDs. All in-house operations in the library are fully
computerized using state of the art RFID technology. OPAC a web-based e-
Catalogue of all the information resources is accessible online. Thus
PPTLRC provides uncompromising information and intellectual
requirements to our users.

It offers a fully integrated and dynamic environment for conducting


academic study and research. It has been noted and commended for its best
information sources and services

LIBRARY TIMINGS
 The Library is functioning throughout the year
except listed holidays

 Monday to Friday: 08:00 AM to 08:00 PM (on


all working days)

 Saturday: 8.45 AM to 4.00 PM (Second


Saturdays and Sundays are closed holidays)
ISSUE /RETURN OF BOOKS - TIMINGS

RETURN OF BOOKS – 8 AM TO 4 PM.

ISSUE OF BOOKS – 9 AM TO 4 PM.


GENERAL RULES
 Should Bring your identity card and borrower cards for
Library transactions and should be in proper uniform.
 Keep strict silence and any type of discussions are not allowed
 Personal belongings and issued books are not allowed
 Keep the newspaper and magazines in the right place after
reading
 Switch off lights and fans while you are leaving the room
 Keep the Library clean
 Mobile Phones Should be Switched Off OR kept on Silent
Mode inside the library. Mobile Phone Use is restricted in
Reading Areas.
 Eatables are avoided in the library ( Food, Toffees, Chew gum
etc )

LIBRARY RULES
 You can take 3 books(B Tech & MCA), 5 books(M Tech) at a time
from The Library
 Loan period is for 14 days(B Tech), 30 days(M Tech).
 After 14 / 30 days there is a fine of Rs.5/- per day will be charged.
 Books can be renewed for another 14/30 days before the due date,
if the books are not reserved by other users.
 Any type of damage or missing books is a serious offense against
the library rule.
 If the books are lost or damaged, the borrower shall have to
replace the books lost by them with fresh copies of the same
edition or latest edition or pay three times of the cost of the books
as per the decision of the Librarian.
 All the books of PPTLRC are RFID tagged. Library transactions
are done through an automated system using RFID technology. So
due care should be given to keep the RFID tags in tact. An amount
of Rs. 100/- per tag will be charged if the tags are found damaged,
spoiled, removed or unreadable.
LIBRARY RULES
Readers shall not write upon, damage, or make
any mark upon any book, journal or magazine,
or other material belonging to the library.
Borrowers must satisfy themselves about the
physical condition of the book before
borrowing. Otherwise they will be responsible
for any damage at the time of returning.
Books borrowed on a particular day will not be
accepted for return on the same day.
