Introduction

The merriam webster dictionary defines correction as

follows
1. A change that makes something right, true, accurate,
etc.
2. The act of making something (such as an error or a
bad condition) accurate or better : the act of correcting
something
3. The act or process of punishing and changing the
behavior of people who have committed crimes ( US).
•20 That, however, is not the way of life you
learned
•21 when you heard about Christ and were
taught in him in accordance with the truth
that is in Jesus.
•22 You were taught, with regard to your
Scriptures former way of life, to put off your old
self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful
desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of
your minds;
•24 and to put on the new self, created to be
like God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Ephesians 4:20-24
•12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need
someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over
again. You need milk, not solid food!

•13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted

with the teaching about righteousness.

•14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have

trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
- Hebrews 5:12-14
Areas of Christian growth
Grow in His Word
• 2 as newborn babes, desire the
pure milk of the word, that you may
grow thereby,
• 3 if indeed you have tasted that the
Lord is gracious.

• 1 Peter 2:2-3
Grow in grace and
knowledge of God
• but grow in the grace and
18

knowledge of our Lord and

Savior Jesus Christ.
• 2 Peter 3:18
• 9 For this reason we also, since
the day we heard it, do not cease
to pray for you, and to ask that
you may be filled with the
knowledge of His will in all
wisdom and spiritual
understanding;  Colossians 1:9-10
• that you may walk worthy of
10

the Lord, fully
pleasing Him, being fruitful in
every good work and increasing
in the knowledge of God;
Grow in Faith

• 5 And the apostles said to the

Lord, “Increase our faith.”
- Luke 17:5
How we Grow in
Faith
Mountains and Valleys, Troubles
and Temptations increase our
faith.
Through It All
Andraé Crouch

• I've had many tears and sorrows,

I've had questions for tomorrow,
there's been times I didn't know right from
wrong.
But in every situation,
God gave me blessed consolation,
that my trials come to only make me
strong.
• Through it all,
through it all,
I've learned to trust in
Jesus,
I've learned to trust in
God.
• Through it all,
through it all,
I've learned to depend
upon His Word.
• I've been to lots of places,
I've seen a lot of faces,
there's been times I felt so all alone.
But in my lonely hours,
yes, those precious lonely hours,
Jesus lets me know that I was His own
• Through it all,
through it all,
I've learned to trust in
Jesus,
I've learned to trust in
God.
• Through it all,
through it all,
I've learned to depend
upon His Word.
• I thank God for the mountains,
and I thank Him for the valleys,
I thank Him for the storms He brought me
through.
For if I'd never had a problem,
I wouldn't know God could solve them,
I'd never know what faith in God could
do.
Grow in discipline
• 5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to
your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,
• 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control [d]perseverance,
to perseverance godliness,
• 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness
love.
• 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be
neither [e]barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord
Jesus Christ.
• 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to
blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his
old sins. - 2 Peter 1:5-9
Two-fold
Environment of
Christian Growth
Growth in the Secret Place
• Just as seeds grow in the womb of the earth in
secret, the trajectory of our growth will be
determined by what goes on in our secret
place.
• We must ask ourselves:

• How’s my relationship with God when no one else is

there watching?
• How often do I speak to Him?
• How often do I study to know
Him and His will?
• How often do I call Him to search
me and try me?
• How often do I tell someone
about the Jesus and the way to
salvation?
Growth in public service
• This borders on increase in our
participation in activities of worship or
service in the Church.
• It could be in the way we comport
ourselves during worship.
• It could also be how intentional we are in
the way we worship and our willingness to
serve; and
• By our frequency in taking service roles in
the Church and being part of the Church’s
programmes to ensure it’s success.

a miracle.

immeasurably more than all we
ask or imagine, according to his
power that is at work within us,
Scriptures
• 21 to him be glory in the church and
in Christ Jesus throughout all
generations, for ever and ever!
