represent the journey of the soul to
the afterlife.

meaning "temple" or "place of worship." This

the Holy Trinity.
Nipa Hut
Before the Spanish came to the
Philippines, the bahay kubo was the

The Bulul are sacred figures of the

gods of barns and harvests and guardians of

Pintados
Pintados was the term used by Spanish
colonists to describe the tattooed indigenous
Visayan people. They were found on the
islands of Cebu, Bohol, Eastern part o Negros,
Samar, Leyte and in the Visayan region. The

during the Spanish colonization of the
Philippines.

What is Modern Art?
Modern Art is referred to as “traditional”

Modern Art” can simply be described as the style and

philosophy of artworks produced during the 1890-1960
era. In other words, the style applied many concepts of
Modern Art but it made more emphasis on social,
economic, and political matters.

The main aim of Modern Art was setting aside the customary
traditions of the past world and focusing on a new approach in
identifying and assessing the current issues of the world.
