Android bermula pada tahun 2003, ketika Andy
Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears, dan Chris White
mendirikan perusahaan bernama Android Inc.
Mereka memiliki visi untuk mengembangkan
sistem operasi canggih untuk perangkat seluler.
Tahun 2005, Google mengakui potensi besar dari sistem operasi Android sebagai platform
yang strategis untuk memperluas dominasinya di pasar pencarian dan iklan ke ranah
perangkat seluler. Pada saat itu, pasar perangkat seluler didominasi oleh perangkat
berbasis Symbian, BlackBerry, dan Windows Mobile.

Android secara resmi diluncurkan pada 23 September 2008 dengan perilisan Android 1.0
pada smartphone HTC Dream (dikenal juga dengan nama T-Mobile G1 di AS).

Pengertian
 Android sendiri adalah sistem operasi
berbasis Linux yang dikembangkan oleh
Google untuk smartphone dan tablet.
Android berguna bagi pengguna dan
pengembang, memungkinkan akses ke
berbagai aplikasi, layanan, dan fitur
melalui Play Store. Dengan Android,
pengguna dapat mengakses internet,
bermain game, mengirim pesan, dan
melakukan banyak hal lainnya dengan
mudah dan nyaman.

kemunculannya di tahum 2008.

Untuk android pertama di Indonesia tidak jauh

berbeda dengan smartphone HTC Dream namun
tidak banyak peminatnya.

Baru pada zaman Samsumg Galaxy ver pertama

yang menggunakan OS Android mulai diketahui
banyak orang.
