Arduino Based Automatic Seed Sowing and Spraying Agriculture Robot

This document summarizes a student project presentation on an Arduino-based agricultural robot for automatic seed sowing and spraying. The robot aims to automate and improve the efficiency of these agricultural processes. It uses various sensors to collect environmental data and an Arduino microcontroller to control seed dispensing and spraying functions based on the sensor readings. The robot is powered by a solar panel and can help reduce labor costs, ensure precise planting and fertilizer distribution, and increase crop yields through more optimal growing conditions. Some challenges to the design include reliable navigation, sensor accuracy, power management, and maintenance needs.

Introduction
➨ Agriculture has been the backbone of Indian economy and
it will continue to remain so for a long time.
➨ The basic objective of agriculture is sowing operation. It
means to put the seeds in rows at desired spacing, cover
the seeds with the soil and provide proper compaction
over the seed.
➨ To negate the problems of air and noise pollution, this
seed sowing machine uses solar energy as an eco-friendly
energy resource.
Problem Statement
➨ Traditional agricultural methods can be time -
consuming and labor intensive.
➨ Manual seed sowing and spraying processes are
prone to errors and inefficiencies.
➨ The need for a more automated and accurate
approach led to the development of this robot.
Objectives
➨ Automate the seed sowing process for improved
efficiency.
➨ Implement precise seed placement to optimize
plant growth.
➨ Automate the spraying of fertilizers and pesticides.
➨ Reduce the human labor and associated costs.
➨ Increase the crop yield and overall productivity.
Components
➨ Arduino microcontroller :
Acts as the brain of the robot, controlling its various functions.
➨ Motors and actuators:
Responsible for movement and performing seed sowing and
spraying actions.
➨ Sensors: Used to detect obstacles, soil moisture,
temperature and other environmental factors.
➨ Seed dispenser:
Holds and releases seeds at specific intervals.
➨ Spraying Mechanism:
Sprays fertilizers and pesticides as required.
➨ Power Supply:
In this machine, a solar panel is used to consume solar
energy and this energy is converted into electrical energy.
The electrical energy is stored inside a battery, which then
gives the necessary power to the DC motor.
Working Principle

➨ The robot moves through the field using motorized

wheels or tracks.
➨ Soil moisture and temperature sensors collect data
for analysis.
➨ The robot’s onboard microcontroller processes
sensor data and determines the optimal seed
sowing and spraying locations.
➨ The seed dispenser releases seeds at the desired intervals
and depth, ensuring proper spacing and planting.
➨ The spraying mechanism is activated when the robot
detects the need for fertilizers or pesticides.
➨ The robot continuously navigates the field, repeating the
seed sowing and spraying process until completion.

Advantages
➨ Improved efficiency : Automating the seed sowing and
spraying processes reduces time and effort.
➨ Precision : The robot ensures accurate seed placement
and proper distribution of fertilizers and pesticides.
➨ Cost-effective: Reducing labor costs and minimizing
wastage of resources.
➨ Increased productivity: Optimal plant growth and
reduced crop losses results in higher yields.
Challenges
➨ Navigation : Ensuring the robot moves smoothly
through various terrains and avoids obstacles.
➨ Sensor accuracy : Reliable data collection is crucial for
making informed decisions.
➨ Power management: Optimizing power consumption
to ensure longer operation times.
➨ Maintenance : Regular upkeep and troubleshooting to
keep the robot in optimal working condition.
Conclusion
➨ Controlling the seeds can be done with less loss.
➨ The mode of operation is very simple even to the
layman.
➨ The maintenance cost of this equipment is very
less.
➨ By using this machine we get accuracy in seeding.
➨ No need of any proper skills to operate this
machine and is easily transportable.
