WRITING
A kind of writing where a person establishes a
position in a given CONTROVERSIAL topic and use
EVIDENCE to persuade the audience to see things
from their point of view.
ARGUMENT OR JUST INFORMATION?

1. Nuclear energy is the best way of meeting Philippine’s energy needs in


the 21st century.
2. Coal is the main energy source in the Philippines in the 21st century.
3. Smoking is harmful to people’s health.
4. Plants produce oxygen that the world needs to sustain life.
5. Computers and automation increase unemployment.
ARGUMENT
In academic writing, the argument is called a
“CLAIM” backed up with evidences that
support the idea.

CLAIM OF FACT
A claim of fact makes an assertion about
something that can be proved or disproved with
factual evidence.

Claims of fact are not actually facts, it only


argues to be a fact.

measure student ability.
