EXPERIENCES
ENHANCING
(E-FLEX) FOR
TEACHERS

The world of education is constantly evolving, and
teachers must be able to adapt to new teaching
methods and technologies to provide the best possible
learning experience for their students. One way to
help teachers stay up-to-date with the latest teaching
techniques and tools is through flexible learning
experiences.
WHAT IS FLEXIBLE
LEARNING?
Flexible learning is multi-layered and multi-faceted. In its
broadest sense, it is a continuum of approaches in terms of
time, place, pace, content and mode of learning applied in
varying degrees. Its overarching purpose is to increase
opportunities and options available to learners and give them
greater control over their learning through a variety of learning
modes and interactions. It is not an alternative mode of
education but an overarching driving force that provides
learners’ greater choice.
Flexible learning is a method of learning where students
are given freedom in how, what, when and where they
learn. Flexible learning environments address how physical
spaced is used, how students are grouped during learning
and how time is used throughout teaching.
FLEXIBLE LEARNING
EXPERIENCES
-allow teachers to learn at their own pace and on
their own time. These experiences can take many
forms, such as online courses, webinars, workshops,
and conferences. The key is that they allow teachers
to choose when and how they learn, so they can fit
their learning around their busy schedules.
Online Courses
-allow teachers to learn from the comfort of their own
homes, and on their own schedule. Courses can be
completed at any time of day, and teachers can take as much
time as they need to complete the course. This flexibility is
particularly important for teachers who have busy schedules
or who live in rural areas where access to professional
development opportunities may be limited.
Webinars
-are live online presentations that can be attended
from anywhere with an internet connection. They
allow teachers to learn about specific topics or tools,
and to ask questions of the presenter in real-time.
Webinars are often recorded, so teachers who are
unable to attend the live presentation can watch the
recording at a later time.
Workshops and Conferences
These events typically take place over one or more
days, but teachers can choose which sessions they
attend based on their interests and needs. This allows
teachers to customize their learning experience to
meet their specific professional development goals.
HOW DOES FLEXIBILITY OF LEARNING
EXPERIENCES ENHANCE LEARNING?
“If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they
learn.” –Estrada Ignacio
BENEFITS FOR LEARNERS
More than the flexibility of the physical space where children can choose
between online and physical learning environments, flexible learning also
makes time flexible. Students are offered flexible learning time in various
schools, shortened studying time, and added a new activity. Sometimes this
activity connects one activity to the one, and sometimes it emphasizes
something you need to strengthen, while sometimes, it just means a relaxing
time to focus on the next class.
“If children feel safe, they can take risks, ask questions, make mistakes, learn
to trust, share their feelings, and grow.” -Alfie Kohn
BENEFITS FOR TEACHERS
A flexible learning environment means a heavy – responsibility for
teachers. However, besides this, it can also work towards developing teachers
and making them feel a bigger fulfilment of their work while seeing students
be more engaged in the classroom.
