The maximum resistance is 5 ohms.

For further details on testing and replacement of the EFC refer to

the QSB T&R Manual section 5 procedure “005-007 EFC Actuator
Valve”.
1.5 Ω

Ohms

Check for continuity:

Measure the resistance between the cylinder #1 Driver Pin and the
Cylinder #1 Return Pin on the injector solenoid.
Less than 2 Ohms? OK
More than 2 Ohms? Replace the injector

Fault Code 322

Fault Activation

The ECM senses current as each injector is actuated.

If the ECM detects a persistent circuit error on an injector circuit, this fault
will become active.

If a circuit error is determined to cause excessive current, the ECM will

disable the injection event for the cylinder(s) that is faulty.
QSB Fuel System and Troubleshooting
Fault Code 322

Causes of a single injector fault are:

Open circuit in the engine harness(es) or injector solenoid.

High resistance in a single injector or injector solenoid.

Extremely low resistance in an injector solenoid (injector shorted

internally but not to ground).
QSB Fuel System and Troubleshooting
Fault Code 322

Causes of multiple injector fault codes in the same bank of injectors are:

Short circuit in the engine harness(es) – either shorts to ground or to

other wires in the engine harness.

Short circuit in any of the three injectors in the bank – shorts to ground.

Failed ECM.
The high side driver operates at 90 volts !
Do not use a test lamp to check for voltage at these terminals
and DO NOT TOUCH during engine operation !!
When installing leads hold them so that they can not “flare out”
where they may short against a rocker lever.

Diagnostic Algorithms
Engine Position Sensing Diagnostics:
– Backup (cam) sensor lost (FC778)
– Phase error between crank & cam (FC731)
– Glitch fault on Main (FC2321, no lamp)
– Glitch fault on Backup (FC2322, no lamp)
– Main (crank) sensor lost (FC689)
The fuel system controls also monitor the engine position sensor.
1. This sensor has redundant pick-ups for reliability. If either input is lost,

a fault is set.
2. If the phasing between the two inputs is not within a calibrated range, a
fault is set.
3. Finally, if unexpected pulses are detected on either input, a fault is set.
FSC Diagnostic Algorithms
Low Boost Voltage Diagnostic:
– In CM850, boost voltage is used to open and close the
injector actuators quickly.
– The injector coils are used to recharge the boost capacitor
between injection events.
– Boost voltage should remain at a constant set-point during
normal operation. A fault is set (FC351) if boost voltage
drops below a calibrated threshold.
FSC Diagnostic Algorithms

Actuator Diagnostics:
– Provides open- & short-circuit detection for injector
actuators (FC322, 323, 324, 325, 331, 332).
– Provides open- & short-circuit detection for Mprop (FC272
& 271)
