THERE ARE THREE MAIN FORM
TENSES

Tenses are mainly divided into three types

 PAST TENSE
 PRESENT TENSE
 FUTURE TENSE
PRESENT TENSE

An action that is
happening right now

 SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE


 PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
 PRESENT PERFECT
 PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE
SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

Example:
I eat mango
He plays
Present continuous tense

This tense indicates the continuous nature of an act or event


in the present and has not been completed. The activity has
begun in the past and will be completed
 SUB+( am/is/are)+v4+ing+obj
PRESENT PERFECT

 SUBJECT+(have/has)+v3+Obj
PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS
TENSE

 SUBJECT + have/has+ been + v+ing+ OBJECT


Past tense

An action that already


took place

 SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE


 PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
 PRESENT PERFECT

SIMPLE PAST TENSE

PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE

This type of past tense is used to describe an event or that


is ongoing or continuing in the past

 Sub + (was/were) + v + ing + obj


PAST PERFECT

This type of tense is used to describe an event in the past


that has been completed

 Sub + had +v 3 (en/ed) + obj


PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

This type of past tense is used to indicate an event, action that


started before another event, action in the past. We can say that one
action or event interrupted another

 Sub + had + been + v-ing + obj


FUTURE TENSE

An action that is going to
