A Call to

Consecretion
Joshua 3:5 ESV
Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate
yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do
wonders among you.”
The message clearly reveals our part and God’s
part.
•Our Part —to consecrate ourselves
•God’s Part —to do wonders, amazing things,
powerful works, miracle-wonders, miraculous
deeds
1 Thessalonians 5 AMP 23 Now may the God of peace
Himself sanctify you through and through [that is,
separate you from profane and vulgar things, make you
pure and whole and undamaged—consecrated to Him
—set apart for His purpose]; and may your spirit and
soul and body be kept complete and [be found]
blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1. What Consecration Means
• The offering of a whole life to God.
• A life set apart to God is a consecrated life.
• Consecrate means to make holy or to dedicate
to a higher purpose.
1. What Consecration Means

• Consecration is final and continual.

• God expects our dedication to be a once-for-all
giving of ourselves to Him.
2. The Motive for Consecration

Consecration is the giving of my life to

God to do His will instead of my own.
2. The Motive for Consecration

It is our resolve and desire to live in the way that

agrees with His grace by engaging in the
practices that allow that grace to work its effect
on us.
Psalm 77 NLV 11 I will remember the things the Lord has
done. Yes, I will remember the powerful works of long
ago. 12 I will think of all Your work, and keep in mind all
the great things You have done. 13 O God, Your way is
holy. What god is great like our God? 14 You are the God
Who does great works. You have shown Your power
among the people. 15 You have set free Your people, the
sons of Jacob and Joseph, with Your strong arm.
3. The Blessing of Consecration

I AM CONSECRATED; I am ready to receive the

wondrous things God has prepared for me.
• Joshua 3:5
• Isaiah 1:18-20
• Psalm 24:5
Isaiah 1:18 “Come on now, let’s discuss this!” says the
Lord. “Though your sins are bright red, they will
become as white as snow. Though they are dark red,
they will become as white as wool. 19 If you are
willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the
land. 20 But if you refuse and rebel, you will be
destroyed by swords.” The Lord has spoken.
3. The Blessing of Consecration

I AM CONSECRATED; I have the privilege to

serve God and His purposes.
• Romans 12:1-2
• Leviticus 27:28
Romans 12 ERV 1 So I beg you, brothers and sisters, because
of the great mercy God has shown us, offer your lives as a
living sacrifice to him—an offering that is only for God and
pleasing to him. Considering what he has done, it is only right
that you should worship him in this way. 2 Don’t change
yourselves to be like the people of this world, but let God
change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be
able to understand and accept what God wants for you. You
will be able to know what is good and pleasing to him and
what is perfect.
3. The Blessing of Consecration

I AM CONSECRATED; I am prepared for eternity.

• Ephesians 5:26, 27
• Psalm 24:3,4
Ephesians 5 AMP 26 so that He might sanctify the
church, having cleansed her by the washing of
water with the word [of God],  so that [in turn]
27

He might present the church to Himself in

glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any
such thing; but that she would be holy [set apart
for God] and blameless.
• The church, likewise, is holy because God
called it to be the body of Christ and the bride
of Christ.
• But God's call is only one aspect of holiness.
While it is true that there is no holiness
without God's call upon us, there is also no
holiness without our faithful response.
•Consecration is both a gate and a pathway.
•It is the prelude to all the wonders, powers,
promises and eternal blessings God has
prepared for us.
